The Jerusalem Post

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's announcement Wednesday that Iran had 3,000 working centrifuges raised fears in Washington that Israel would respond to the statement with a preemptive military strike, the London Times reported Thursday.
The British paper quoted military sources in the US capital as saying that the figure presented by Ahmadinejad could be the "tipping point" that touches off an IAF strike. Washington is reluctant to go forward with a strike against Iran, but Israel is a "different matter," the officials said.

It's just rather odd. Every month or so, something being said by Ahmadinejad or Israel. Almost like they are each daring the other.
But would an 'air strike' by Israel be enough? And what does Ahmadinejad REALLY have in the way of defensive weaponry? He could have something entirely different, but still deadly, in his arsenal?????

Iran has the worlds 5th largest military. They have plenty in the way of weapons and I honestly think they are trying to goad Israel into making that air strike.
Personally I think its a dipshit move on Irans part, but hey, that's just me

sure their baiting them but it's seriously a stupid decision on their part. Israel I think is one of the most underestimated nations when it comes to military. They can hold their own and then some. The thing is whoever attacks Israel becomes an enemy of the US so if Israel and Iran get into it the USA will step in and demolish Iran with the help of Israel. And for those who thinks it won't be so easy considering that Iran has the worlds 5th largest military think of this. Iraq had the 4th largest in desert storm and it only took ground forces 100 hours to take over the country.

From what I have read he has a weak Navy, some militant forces and numerous missiles at his disposal. They also have many nuclear sites, and opportunity. In my opinion he also can out source help if need be.
Yes, I believe Iran's President has been baiting the world. Waiting for a bite. Israel is #1 on his hit list. Besides with Pakistan stealing all the limelight he is bound to be working some sort of photo op.
edit: I will say I find belows comments equally interesting... it may just be. He has two leaders above him. And the Grand Ayatollah is none too pleased at all .

Iran would like nothing more than for Israel to strike. It would not just retaliate by itself, but draw much of the Muslim world into a war against the "infidels". Then, according to many Christians, the Arabs would conquer and occupy the Jewish State, and display the banner of Islam on the Temple Mount. If this happens, look for the Apocolypse of Armageddon to come withen 7 years.

The Iranians have been taunting the non-Muslim world long enough.
Israel would be up for a hard fight but with coalition forces, the job seems doable. I think they should go for it. The longer they wait, the better prepared Iran will be.

Ahmadinejad is a silly fool. The fact is, Arab men still have machismo issues. They think they look weak if they compromise or cave to pressure. Bush, Cheney and the Israeli govt. continue taunting Iran through the press on a daily basis, warning them not to build nukes. Of course, when somebody tells you that "you better not" do something in front of others, you lose face if you agree. It isn't Ahmadinejad who is baiting Israel. Rather, it's the U.S. and Israel baiting Ahmadinejad, and it's working.

Syria thought the same thing, as a matter of fact Iran supplied them with the "latest technology" and they didn't even see the Israelis, when they bombed that nuke site....
