I am an atheist and hardcore skeptic. I require proof that God exists, Jesus exists and is supernatural, that heaven exists, that hell exists, that the Bible is true. I require proof that there is some sort of sentient existence for us beyond death. I require proof that there is a need for us to be "saved" as it were.

I don't do faith; just facts. I would rather have an unanswered question than an unquestioned answer. I question the validity of Christianity and the Bible. I question the validity if any religious faith. Faith is irrelevant to me.

It's not that I am rejecting Christ. Heck, that is one helluva strawman argument if I ever saw one. You paint the picture of us (at least the atheists) going "Hey Christ, I have decided to reject you." and thumbing our noses at him, when the truth is that we really don't believe he existed, or that if he did exist, that he was anything more than just a human with interesting ideas. It's about as absurd as accusing us of "hating God" because in order to hate God, we have to believe he exists.

Now, I don't typically have a problem with people of faith. I just object when they insist that we share their faith.

Because its a fact that Christianity wasn't the first religion - its not the only religion - and even if it was it wouldnt make a difference. See the issue is that God just doesnt make himself visible. And next you will hear the Christians screaming about "what about the stars and the sun and blah blah blah", well every religion has explanations for these - so you can't say that your God was the one to create it without evidence. Next you will hear about the prophecies made - well prophecies were made in other religions - so give me one good reason why I should consider why Christianity is the one true religion when they dont offer any more evidence than any other religion that theirs is true.

We are not all stupid people, who haven't even considered the possibility that there may be a God. Some of us are still not absolutely convinced that there isn't. The only thing that is likely to make me 100% convinced either way is my own thought and experiences.

It is so irritating to be preached at, on this site, by zealots.

Probably because they don't know what a saviour is until they look it up and find the relation to savior.

Now, I'd imagine that if you were to reject Christ and his atonement and then you get to be born again you didn't need him or his atonement seeing as how you got reborn anyway.

I was born just fine the first time, thank you.

Here and now, I reject YOU, and I claim that you do not know what you are talking about!

Probably for the exact same reason that YOU cannot accept that others religious beliefs(or lack of religion) is just as valid as your own. I don't need saving or a savior, I am not lost and have no need of anything your religion offers.

speaking personally, I am beyond "saving" in your terms... Zealots like you only push me further and further from ever considering mainstream religion. Your attitude DOES hurt people, especially people raised into your religion who are GLBT... but I am not one of those people, I am beyond your "help." I cannot speak for the others here reading this question however.

There are many Gay Christians. Being Gay isn't a sin. Jesus never mentioned being Gay as a sin. If it was that big of an issue I'm sure the Savior would have mentioned it, don't you?

I reject it because I learned that I will never be forgiven for my alleged 'sins'.

It's hard to go back to a religion that rejected you during a very traumatizing time in your life... especially at such a young age.

because christ does not hold a monopoly on spirituality. Spirituality was well in practise thousands of years before your jesus ever became known.....and I for one would never follow him like one of a herd of sheep.
