If you mean Louisiana, I would quit out right. The state has many pockets of people that are are culturally stuck in the 1920's socially.
If you mean Los Angeles, depends on where. Commuting is a nightmare and if you piss someone off here, we would make sure you were ostracized enough to move.

I'd prefer to stay where I am, but it would depend on the specific job, pay vs. cost-of-living and other opportunities that such a move might mean for me personally. I'm not sure if you meant Louisiana or Los Angeles, but my answer would be the same.
