Do you think it is right to call yourself a dog lover when really you only like purebreds?

Not really. Dog refers to anything that is a dog whether it's a purebred or not. I think you can call yourself a (breed name) lover.

I love all dogs. Sometimes, I don't like the dog across the street that acts as if he's going to rip my face apart every single time I walk by, but other than that, I love all dogs.

Now here's the controversial part.

I even love dogs that are intentionally bred to be a mixed breed. What's wrong with that? All breeds were mixed at first to become a purebred. What's wrong with making another breed?

But yeah, if you're going to call yourself a dog lover, it refers to all dogs, not just purebreds. If you aren't that, maybe think about what else you could call yourself, but what people said earlier, you can call yourself whatever you want, but it doesn't necessarily mean you are that.

I will not support the intentionally breeds of mutts.

Does this mean I don't love dogs? Hell no.

It means I love them more because I'm responsible enough not to create more mutts when there are hundreds and hundreds dying every day.

Do I like purebreds, sure I do. I own one purebred, my other dogs are rescues, and they are mutts.

Will I support someone breeding responsibly, yes.

Love for something also means taking steps to protect them. If that means not bringing some pups into the world, then that's what means. Just like refusing to buy the puppy in the pet shop. Yes he may be cute and cuddly, and yes he needs home. But I know that if I buy that puppy I'm contributing to the puppy mills pocket book, and then guess what happens, even more dogs suffer.

I love all dogs, and to be a true dog lover you need to also know how to be responsible. Intentional breeding of mutts is far from that.

Well you certainly can call yourself a dog lover, but not an "every dog lover." A selective dog lover. Which doesn't seem right, because any dog has the potential to be a great pet. But to answer your question, I'd say yeah, you could call yourself a dog lover. Just a stubborn one.

Sure, why not.. I like all dogs, but I only want to own purebreds.. I like knowing what I am buying, what I am getting, how big the dog will be, what it will look like, act like etc.. I can appreciate another dog, but prefer to own purebreds.. Dogs should all be purebreds.. It's either people who allow their dogs to get pregnant, or people who breed their dog for fun, or people who breed mixed breeds on purpose who continue producing them.. If we got rid of the irresponsible people, there would only be purebreds left.. Nothing wrong with pure..

You are dog specific breed, which is an unjust favourism.

I thinks it's more of a preference than a dislike. Just because people prefer a pure breed in no way means they are not dog lovers. That's like asking if you like boys or girls.
If you pick one or the other does that mean you don't like children. That's just nutty.

Well a dog is a dog no matter what the breed. I don't think you COULDN'T call yourself a dog lover if you didn't like mixed breeds but I don't see why you wouldn't like mixed breeds.

Honestly I don't understand your problem. You are not being very clear. Pure breed are dogs are they not? So if you love pure breed then you love dogs as well.

YES OF COURSE YOU CAN. SOME PEOPLE LIKE PEDIGREE DOGS OTHERS LIKE MUTTS BUT THEY ARE ALL DOG LOVERS IN MY EYES.
