That's a double no-no to the dems. How dare you speak the truth, and spare no feelings . . . But of course, it's okay when Kerry calls are troops stupid, and Mertha calls them murderers. Those "truths" are fine!

Tanner's remarks are blatently false--as well as being openly racist.
Which the article points out--IF you had bothered to read it. First, as the article pointed out, African Americans have an average lifespan of over 73 years--a little less than the overall national average but well into the range of "senior citizens. Second, Tanner made it clear he included all minorities--and his supposed "justification" holds even less for other minority groups, whose average lifespan is comparable to that of whites.
Obama is entirely justified in calling for this bigot to be dismissed. Of course, the neocons won't agree. They are always quick to defend racsts and bigots. Birds of a feather, and all that.

The statement that blacks don't become senior citizens is false, and pretty much a racist stereotype, not the "truth". The truth is that black males have a lower life expectancy than white males, at the moment around 73.4 years vs. 78 years for people born in the past three years.

It is not the truth if having a drivers license correlates with car ownership, Studies have shown that
"large disparities in car ownership between whites and blacks, and even among the poor, black households are much less likely to have a car."
For someone who is this clueless to be ruining the civil rights decision is a disgrace, but typical of Bush appointees.

Ouch, that was insensitive. It is possible to word un-PC seeming data in a polite way, but looks like this guy did not even bother. So much for gentlemanly behavior.

Truth is truth, black Americans live 5 years less than white Americans, and I think even less for hispanics. While does this translate into minorities not making it to be senior citizens? No, but percentage wise, less minorities will be seniors than whites. And until that changes, what he said is true.

I think it's all a ploy by Obama to get publicity and be seen as a defender of minorities.
