Actually, yeah. But if I really think someone else's is better--and that's most of the time--I vote for theirs.

I don't bother keeping track of my questions well enough to do that; I absolutely hate when an asker puts a question to a vote, though. If people have taken the time to give a thoughtful answer, I think the least that a person can do is choose a best answer.

Questions that go to vote almost always end up being awarded to the first person who answers, as people who vote on answers are generally level 1 accounts just trying to make a quick point when they have exhausted the answers they are allowed to give. They don't care to read the answers, just go through and pick the first one as best.

If you read all the answers, and believe that your own is the best, it is dishonest to vote for anyone else's answer.

You could abstain -- but then you are still eliminating one legitimate voice from the vote. If there are 2 answers, and 10 other people vote, split 5 to 5, then it is simply a fact that, if you like your own answer best, a majority of voters like your answer best.

I think refusing to vote for your own answer, when you believe it is best, is allowing a fussy discomfort to override your obligation to honestly express your views.

Voting for yourself, even though you don't think it's best, just for ego, is wrong.

That being said, it's hard for me to get worked up about people gaming meaningless voting and points.

Yes, yes,yes.
How did you find out?
I tried not to, but one question I answered, I went back and checked the other answers, and they were all really stupid and uninformed about the subject, so I voted for my own answer. After I saw my "Best Answer percentage" go up, I was hooked.

I have even gone so far as to open other accounts under other names. I ask a question in one name, answer in another, then use the first name's account to select my second account's answer as best.

I need help.

One of the names I use is "ki". --heh heh

yeah i have if it's 'in voting' status. especially if i feel i really did give the best answer.

a lot of times i give answers to skeptics of the Word, JEsus Christ, God. and i give an answer that I know they do not want to agree with or believe. Like YES, JESUS is real!!!

so i vote for my answer so that, when unsuspecting people look at an old resolved Q they will see my declaration (as the BEST ANSWER), and maybe it will in someway bring them to serve God.

I also always leave a link for the plan of salvation, just in case.

my way of cyber-witnessing, LOL

Yes. If I'm the only one who answered, and the question is stuck 'In Voting', I'll vote for my own answer.

Seems fair to me.

At first I didn't realize you could. Then I questioned the ethics. but any candidate running for office can vote for themselves so I don't think it is unethical.

Yes I have. In this category voting seems to be a waste of time most askers select the answer most in line with their beliefs.

On questions that are in balloting for suitable answer? definite, I do, and that i often finally end up tying the vote on that query because of the fact I voted for my answer as suitable answer. DON"T confuse score an answer with balloting for suitable answer. you are able to no longer thumb up or down (fee) your guy or woman answer.

Like someone else above me, I've done it when I'm the only answer and it's in voting, but obviously nobody is voting...I see nothing wrong with that. Otherwise, though, no...
