Something like a nice book full of pictures of us together and saying nice things about me really. That would be the best, a house or a car could be bought for you by someone else, but an acknowledgement of the time and effort and fun spent in bringing them up could only come from them.

my kids are five and younger, three of them so i have time to come up with this one...but the ultimate gift?
maybe to lift the burden of having to pay for college for them. like they have a full scholarship because their hard work paid off. because that would let me know that i did a good job as a parent.
for my daughter not to end up pregnant at 14-20. and when she's an adult for her have a kid and make me a grandparent.
ummmmmmmm....what else. for them to win the lottery or something of the sort, hit big with money so they can take care of me. for all their dreams to come true. oh, physical...um. jewelery is always nice!!
=)

A homemade card. One where they take the time to think about it and create it. Even if it is just colored on white paper with a simple I Love You inside, I love it :)
A few years ago I was a helper at school for my daughter around Christmas. I got to go to Art Class with her, they were coloring a Santa picture. I did one, too, and took it to my Mom and told her it was for her refrigerator. She cried and said it had been a long time since she had gotten anything like that from one of us.
It stayed on her fridge for a very long time.
So.... if you are trying to figure what to get your Mom, spend some time and make her something ... whatever it is, she will treasure it.

My son's pretty good about this sort of thing. I'm a big fan of bird-watching, and my son has gotten me a variety of accessories, books, and so on at various times (he's an adult). If he were rich, then I suppose the ultimate gift would be a house, with plenty of land, to watch LOTS of birds and animals :-)
Since he's not rich, I'm delighted to have small things, and already fortunate enough to get plenty of hugs!

I don't need a physical gift, but since she has chosen not to speak to me for 9 years, a phone call and a visit would be wonderful.

I have everything I could possibly want and the money to buy what i fancy.
All I need from my children is to know that they are happy.
