Why do you believe in evolution even though a cell has not even been reproduced?

Science has made HUGE advances, but are still not capable of creating a cell out of inorganic matter. NON-creationists only please. I'm not forcing my beliefs on you, I only want to know why you believe it.

ok, abiogenesis then...
i have done quite a bit of research, i just never came across that term.

you are right, but that doesn't mean scientists won't be able to. in fact, only a few scientists really study it, and they haven't been working on it for very long. research is a very slow process... there are literally thousands of people studying cancer and although they've make great progress treating it (chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, etc) no one can cure it yet. but that doesn't mean one day they won't be able to. in fact, if you were a betting man, wouldn't you bet that one day they will rather than saying they will never be able to???

science hasn't yet sent a robotic probe to alpha centaurus. That doesn't mean those stars don't exist.
Abiogenesis is a different subject than evolution.
God is not the answer to all questions of the style "We don't know".
Evolution has been observed to happen. If you want to know more read some text books on that matter or take a class. It's not like there are no resources to educate yourself. Public libraries are free.

evolution just depends on cells doing what they do - reproducing imperfectly, adapting to their environment. the origin of the cell doesn't matter at all to the question of whether or not evolution occurs. the cell could have been zapped into existence by a god and evolution would still proceed from there. evolutionary theory seeks to explain the diversity of life on earth, not its origin. nevertheless, the cell is understood (incompletely) in terms of physical and chemical processes. inability to form cells is probably due to their sheer complexity and the fact that there are few practical reasons to try to form cells, we have plenty of them to study already. i think it is not an indication that there is something other than physical and chemical processes going on in cells. vitalism has been a sterile scientific idea for going on a century now.

You are not ENTIRELY correct...

In the 1950's, some complex organic molecules that were the building blocks for amino acids were successfully made (multiple times) out of simple gases & fake lightning by a STUDENT at the University of Chicago.

Many self-replicating materials have subsequently been synthesized, it is not a matter of "if", but of "when" organelles, cells, or indeed a complete living organism will be "created" in a lab out of chemicals that are already on the shelves.

Yes you are right but many scientific experiments have not been completed they will be eventually with amazing discoveries. Science is on the verge of creating life soon you very well may have to eat your words so be careful what you say. But science ability to create life has nothing to do with eveloution. Evolution is already a proven fact. Only some minor details remain to be worked out. Like why we still have monkeys. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Because given all the physical evidence, it's the theory that makes the most sense. It's not perfect yet, but science is about finding what makes the most sense given the available info. And when you consider the fossil record, DNA comparisons, analyzing the rate of cosmic radiation to genetic mutation and comparing that to the length of life on Earth, mitochondrial records, Evolution makes the most sense of any theory brought to date.

Just because we don't have all the answers yet doesn't mean that the theory is worthless. It means that we use it as a guideline while we strive to find a fuller understanding.

If you knew anything about evolution, you'd know that it has to do with the CHANGE of an organism, not the origin of one. And Science is already really close to making a cell from scratch. Look up Sidney Fox. We've already been able to produce a protocell. Scientists say we'll be able to make life from scratch within 10 years.

Evolution does address the existence or non-existence of God, only how life, once formed on earth has changed over time.

Many people believe in God and evolution. They believe that God is the intelligence behind evolution. It is a myth that ONLY atheists believe in evolution.

I wonder why so many theists are bearing false witness against their neighbor by deliberately trying to portray ALL people who believe in evolution as atheists. (not that I think being an atheist is a bad thing)

Why would be it be such a terrible thing, if God created the world slowly and in stages.

Why did he just have to go "POOF" and everything just appeared ? Why does God have to have created the world the way YOU think he should have created it ?

That's abiogenesis, not evolution. Evolution has nothing to do with the origins of life. And I accept evolution because it has been proved.
Anyway, we may make cells in laboratories some time soon. Are you saying that because science hasn't done something yet, it never will? That would imply that there won't ever be any more scientific advances.

I believe nothing, first of all. Beliefs are ideas accepted as true without any proof. I see much evidence favoring evolution, while there is no evidence at all to support naive creation myths. Creationists and ID'ers distort things and quote things out of contest plus lying outrageously outright. That only discredits them and their beliefs. I am wearing a $26,100 Piaget "Polo" wristwatch. I cannot make a watch at all, much less one of such fine quality, but I know it obviously exists. One need not be able to make a Piaget watch to know it certainly exists, and one need not be able to make a cell to know evolution exists. Men will make cells some day. Read some real science and see we are closer to that than you believe.
