I am 18 weeks pregnant and I was in the ER all night long because I had pain all day yesterday, no bleeding but it was like a bad stretching pain. The doctor told me that it was round ligament pain, he didnt tell me anything to do to help with the pain or anything. Is it OK to use a little pillow looking thing that has rice in it(like heating it up in the microwave and putting it on my belly)? It isnt very hot, just warm enough to help. The reason I am asking is because when I put it on earlier the baby started kicking really hard. Was this hurting the baby, or was it just the weight of the rice pushing? When I put it on my belly it helped so much, even doing it for a few minutes. Is this hurting our baby? thanks so much for helpful advice from people with experience. =]

No its not okay. No heating devices. Take some tyenol, this pain only last for awhile. But its worst in the first pregnancy.

Do not use a heating pad. you need to use baby pain reliever. Call your mom and ask if this happened to her while pregnant with you. Try yoga to help and swimming in a pool at a ymca or a gym.

the baby probably started kicking because the heat is uncomfortable. ask your doc about stretching exercises that might help with the discomfort.

I was told no heating devices whatsoever. Call your doctor's office and ask.
