For serveral months, I have learned about almost everyone who posts on a regular basis. The one aspect that stands out is their preference of hockey player that they root for. The range is wide, from Wayne Gretzky to Trever Linden. How about a bit of a twist? Which NHL player do you loathe the most?

Angie~with the LEAFS- My least favorite player is Chris Simon. I never cared for the guy as it was (especially when he played for Colorado...my younger brother had a sick fascination with him when he would try to start fights with me in NHL 96), but then came the Mike Grier incident. During a game when Simon was with the Capitals and Grier was with Edmonton, Simon was irritated that Grier was sticking up for himself, so he uttered a racial slur (yep, that one) at the Oilers' winger. Of course, the rest of the Oilers hopped off the bench to stick up for Grier (which to this day ten years later I admire). The NHL suspended Simon and ordered him to undergo sensitivity training. One would think that after that, Simon would learn not to be a jerk. He came back being his chippy self, then came the Ryan Hollweg situation. Simon has no respect for anyone else or the game. I'm sick of him and I perversely wished his suspension would have ended his career, but the Islanders brought him back...

Three part answer-

3. Vaclav Varada. As a Sabres fan, I knew how much I would hate this guy if he wasn't in a Buffalo uniform. They guy wasn't a cheap shot artist as much as he was an annoying gnat. Even though he got under the other team's skin and got his own squad power plays like it was his only job, he still was aggravating to watch.

2. Sean Avery. See Vaclav Varada, except more agressive. Almost like Matthew Barnaby, but less likeable (hard as that is to believe), and can't change the game for the better.

1. Chris Neil. See Sean Avery, except he's only about the 10th toughest guy on his team. When you're a player like that, and your goalie can fight better than you, you deserve no respect. When you're a player like that, your goalie can fight better than you, AND your injury-prone, 10 PIM/year center (Spezza) has more guts than you, then he's so unbelievably loathsome that he should have his house burnt down just for stealing money from fans for pretending to be an NHL player.

I say Dany Heatley. One, because he's with the Sens and I'm a Leaf fan. Two, because he was drunk driving back in Atlanta, killed his teammate, giving couple years of probation and the NHL welcomed him back with open arms!!! Now, Mark Bell of the Leafs has been charged with drunk driving and leaving the scene after an accident. He's given six months in jail after the season. The NHL puts him in the substance abuse program AND suspends him for 15 games after that. Recently Jay Bouwmeester has also been charged with DUI. Don't see the league doing anything about it. So did they suspend Bell just because he isn't a top 10 scorer or potential Paul Coffey? Or is it because he's a Leaf?

I strongly dislike Matthew Barnaby, talentless goon, but he's retired now. So id have to say Daniel Alfredsson. I take nothing away from him, hes a really good hockey player, I just really dislike the man. And what is Benny P talking about, Dany heatley was never charged with a DWI/DUI. If you're going to talk crap about one of the best hockey players in the NHL currently, at least spell their name Correctly and get the facts straight.

My least favorite players would be Iginla and Turco. Iginla is one of the most over rated players in the league and he is a big loser. He is dirty and a big cry baby! He is great at diving though, perhaps he can make a career out of olympic diving once he is done with the NHL, which will hopefully be soon.

Turco...the dirtiest goalie out there. He is good, but super dirty. No goalie goes after players for blood like Turco does. He is also a cry baby! Always crying goalie interference...wahhh wahhhh.

Three come to mind right off hand.

1. The Sedins - They're like living bobbleheads and so god awfully ugly that only a cruel god could make there be two of them.

2. Jordin Tootoo - If you've ever seen him play before, I am sure you'll agree.

3. Chris Pronger - He's a good d-man but he's too damn overhyped, takes stupid penalties, is like an evolved form of Derian Hatcher in his prime.

For me it's Bryan Marchment. He was suspended 13 times in his first 12 seasons, primarily for intent to injure penalties. You could fill an all-star team (a few honorable mentions included) with his list of victims: Mike Modano, Joe Nieuwendyk, Greg Adams, Mike Gartner, Kevin Dineen, Peter Zezel, Pavel Bure, Paul Kariya, Wendel Clark and Martin Rucinsky. For a player who entered the league with a great upside as a physical, puck moving defenseman who also had some knee issues early in his career, I really look down on the number of knee to knee hits that can be attributed to him.

This was a tough question. There were about 100 guys I instantly thought of

After a few seconds of thinking, I was able to increase that to a good 200-250 players.

In the end, I came up with one

Shane Doan
472 points in 803 games
That is 47.2 pts per regular season.

People talk about him like he's a point a game guy, yet he's never had 70 points.

He's a great guy, don't get me wrong.....................But he is so over-rated, he is my least favourite player.

It used to be Chris Therien. That guy was nothing more than a sh!t talking coward. End of story.

Right now, I'd have to go with Chris Chelios. Not so much for how he plays, but for how he conducts himself off the ice.

Although he is widely heralded as an American hockey Icon, my personal observations and interactions with this man have left me with a lasting impression of self-importance and the complete absence of class in his make-up.

Fans of his cite leadership skills in further defense and admiration of Chelios. Does a real leader leave his National team in Minny the night before a semifinal World Cup match to fly to Detroit for a Kid Rock concert?

What kind of an example is that for a captain to set for his younger teammates? Can you ever imagine Steve Yzerman doing something like that?

Chris Chelios, today's worst person in the NHL.

Markus Naslund is right at the top! The man plays with no passion and is a horrible captain. I can't believe Vigneault didn't take away the C when he became head coach. Sometimes I wonder about my Canucks, outside Luongo and the Sedins.

Dan Cloutier, ugh! I never liked the guy when he was with Vancouver, which is my sister's team. She would go on and on about how Cloutier is going to help the Canucks make a difference, yada, yada, yada. The guy couldn't stop a beach ball let alone a puck when it mattered the most. When the Kings decided that Cloutier was going to be their starting goalie, I sobbed for a few hours. I knew that idea was going to be very bad, and I was right. Cloutier couldn't find his butt with a map let alone make anything resembling a glove save. I've also never liked Chris Pronger and Bryan Marchment.
