Unfortuntely, my eyesight has deteriorated to the point in which I can't see a thing (granted it's a fairly long distance away) without my glasses. I usually don't wear my glasses because I usually don't have to read things far away from me on a daily basis. Recently, I heard that someone who needs glasses and doesn't wear them is straining their eyes. If I don't wear my glasses more often, am I going to have an even harder time seeing eventually?

No.
Holding your eyes half-shut to try and see a bit more can cause fatigue, "strain", but it does no permanent harm.
Possibly wrinkles if you keep it up for long enough.

There are definite exceptions for young children where the eyes are still developing, and a few very rare exceptions for older teenagers and adults (mainly in the area of binocular stability), but apart from that neither wearing or not wearing your glasses makes any real difference to their future course.
