what exactly is selective mutism??? Is there a cure to it?

It happens usually in children. They refuse to speak in certain situations. Even though they can speak, they appear to be unable to talk. It's generally believed to be due to anxiety.

I never heard of a "cure" per se, but it is treatable and tends to resolve on it's own when the child gets older.
