Ok I am a teacher.
I can teach you this.
The best way for you to understand is for a lot of visuals and modeling.
First, you take the plug in your hand. Make sure you are holding it near the base. This way you will have more control. Last, you put it in the outlet. And it turns on!!
See it fits like a glove. If your lose it again, I will have to hold onto it for you!
