i've been kicking this thought around in my head for a few weeks now...what if..

what if the government, in order to eliminate smoking (or lower numbers), made it so that for every 1000 packs of cigarettes made...one was poison. If you smoked a cigarette from a poisoned pack..you would die a painful death.

do you think people would still buy cigarettes or even continue to smoke?

ps i am a smoker....and i'd quit. and let's say that there's no way of getting cigarettes imported from other countries.

i'm not saying this should be done. (how awful!)..but i thought about writing a short story about it. i was just wondering everyone's opinion.

oh and i like the idea of every 1000th pack and not less than that...because 1000 is rare enough that some people will think "oh it won't happen to me"...

that is an interesting question and for that you get a star however I would think many a law would need to be passed before it even eventuated why? genocide comes to mind... um how bout murder? I know we're playing the what if game and yes being a smoker myself I have thought very hard hmmmm and come to the conclusion that if it did eventuate then yes lol I would give up fullstop!.....lol however in saying that, these tired old lungs are truly addicted to those awlful toxins and it would need to become law before I would probably quit *sigh*

hmmm, good question. it would stop me from smoking. but isn't that already the case? it may not be every 1000th pack but aren't smokers gambling regardless? aren't they rolling the dice on a slow and painful death anyways?

p.s no offense!

Melanie!! Where have you and your GREAT ideas been?! :p
But I am afraid smokers would still be smoking.

Why don't you quit now?

and... couldn't we change it to three packs in every 1000? :p
