Armed Children in Iraq Featured in New Propaganda Video

Armedchildren_mnA new propaganda video from the al Qaeda-linked Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) features small children with AK-47 assault rifles. The narrator of the video refers to these young boys as the "new generation" of mujahedeen.

In one scene, a small child who appears to be around seven- or eight-years-old is holding an AK-47 and reciting what he says are quotes from the prophet Mohammed. Then a group of small children are seen, each holding an AK-47.

The narrator is heard over the footage saying, "In conclusion we say to Bush, the Muslim ummah [Muslim community] that you have tried with all your strength to wage war against, is an ummah [community] that will never die. And it has, with the blessings of God, allotted for you a new generation of Mujjahideen."

The video, which was posted online, features the al Furqan logo, the media wing of the ISI. The 20-minute video contains clips of IED explosions and various other scenes that are typical of previously released ISI propaganda videos.

If a child is walking straight at me with an AK-47, I would not think twice, I would knock him off. Sorry, but it's do or die and I'm living. There trained and out to kill you, age is not a factor it's a matter if your going to make it to the next day.

If they were shooting at me, no. But more then likely, there would be other ways to get them since a 7 year old would not really be able to control the fire or hit a target.

AQ does recruit kids, but they wont use them like that. Sure they make propaganda videos like the one in the article, but they know two things:

1) It wouldn't take long for the western media to start showing picture of kids fighting and the would ruin their public image in the media that is un-intentionally is on their side.

2) Children are much more useful as intel gatherers or inconspicuous observers then as combatants.

And its not like this is the first time this has been done by an enemy.

It is a fault of western society. For us 18 is this "magical age." For a lot of African, Middle Eastern, and Eastern societies, its normal for 12 years old to be that "magical age."

The 1949 Geneva Convention changed the rules about executing children. Age is not an issue in hostile actions. Mosque, Synagogues, Church's and Hospitals can also be fired on if used by hostiles. The Conventions suggest they be avoided not ignored if used by hostiles.

In WWII a lot of kids were executed after being caught placing explosives on aircraft ( Example of being caught as saboteurs). The German Army was sending out kids as young as 12 at the end, they were engaged and treated as adults.

In VietNam VC used kids as suicide bombers. A cousin said the youngest he saw was only 2 or 3 and had 2 hand grenades. They shot him before he got to them.

All I see is the weapon, and the action taken by the person who has the weapon.

Lots of people in Iraq have AK-47's, or some type of Kalashnikov that doesnt mean they are a threat.

If they take some kind of offensive action against you with the weapon then they have crossed the line and become a combatant.

Their age isnt a factor.

First of all I dont Believe they would be stonrg enough to hold the weapon while firing as the recoil would likely knock them over.

Secondly, if I were to PID the shooter and see it was a Kid that young, my likely reaction would be to run My vehicle towards him to scare the shite out of him and make him drop the AK and run.

I wont say I would never shoot at him, but I would try other COA as much as possible before using Lethal force.

Anyone who is intent upon killing me is open game regardless of sex or age.

My brother was in Vietnam as a grunt. The little kids would come into their camp during the day and do chores (which they were paid for). In reality, these were not innocent children. They spied out various armament positions, etc. Then they would come back at night and try to kill the soldiers.

If it means the difference between coming home in a box draped by a flag and coming home alive I will shoot anyone holding a weapon at me and not think twice. No soldier wants to kill a kid" Now tell me if you were a soldier in a combat area riding on the back of truck with your squad going through a village you spot a kid pulling the pin from a hand grenade to throw in to your truck you can stop him with your weapon. what are you going to do? shoot him or let him throw the grenade and kill or hurt the men in the truck? this happen in Vietnam.some time's you have to make hard choice's.That is the way it is in the militray.TFS

I'd consider it an honor to kill such a kid because I know that doing so would save the life of someone who would hesitate.
When Hitler ran out of adults to draft he started training boys to fight for him. Now that the islamofascists are training children we can be sure they are running out of adults stupid and evil enough to be islamofascist terrorists. We are winning.
