Ceramic teapots are not stove top safe. Use a metal kettle to boil your water, put loose tea or teabags in your teapot and then pour the water into the teapot. Let it steep and then serve.

Kettles and Teapots have different purposes.
Kettles go on the stove and change water temperature quickly.
Teapots hold hot tea to serve hot for longer.

While the water gets hot on the stove, you place heat tap water in your nice pot to warm it. Once your water is hot on the stove, dump the teapot and replace it with the hot water. From there add your tea and you are good to go.

Nope.
At least I don't.
I heat my water in an electric kettle and then make tea in the teapot.

No-- you heat water in a tea kettle or pot..
Place your tea leaves in the ceramic teapot, pour the boiling water in..
let it steep for five minutes or so.
Remove tea leaves
And Viola, there you are..

No, you heat the water in something else and then pour it into the ceramic pot with the tea and let it steep.
Most of those pots would be ruined if they were on direct heat.
