i found this good website called www.globaltravel.com that says that i can start my own home based travel business, do you think i'll be successful as a travel agent because i heard some people use popular travel booking websites to book their trips, i dont want to pay money and then have trouble finding clients and not be successful, should i take risk?

I don't usually discourage people from careers, but it seems like a travel agent is about as useful as being a morse code editor. Very little need, if any. Almost everyone I know, both personal and business, book their own travel online.

I'm a sag and I decided on nursing b/c it's a very "hands on" job that allows me to be "me" - i love taking care of myself and other people around me, I'm naturally friendly and hospitable, and it's a job that's flexible and I know i'll never be bored. you meet new patients everyday with a different story, attitude than the last one. It's a very "wordly" career - it's physically, mentally, and emotionally draining but well worth it. A travel agent sounds fun. it's funny bc i took a speech class in college and my topic was planning a trip to hawaii. after the speech, about 90% of the class suggested I be a travel agent. If it's something that really interests you, go for it. Have you ever traveled to a place where you really love? Like when you get back from the trip, you're so passionate about it and enocurage everyone to go? If you have that feeling or passion that i say travel agent for you all the way :0

Contrary to the other responses, I would say "GO For IT"!! As a matter of fact, I did just that and started my home-based travel agency with an up and coming company called "TraVerus Travel". I have achieved the status of Certified Travel agent (working part-time). I get deep discounts on hotels, resorts, condos, and even cruises!! I also receive 70% commissions on travel that is booked through my website.

PS - My residual checks are making the car payments on my new automobile...

A travel agent for a large agency can be successful. I'd guess your chances of success on this home-based travel agency buisiness would be slim to nil.
