The only other ideologies that practiced the suppression of free speech were communists, fascists, religious fanatics, monarchies, and other assorted oppressive dictatorial types.

So the pcs are in good company.

Another problem with political correctness is that it has a double standard. Certain people can slander and attack other groups in society while they themselves are protected.

If people are so thin skinned that they can't handle free speech then they should crawl back under their rock and stay there.

Political correctness is only bad, because right-wingers are really fighting personal responsibility. They think there is a dream world where they should never be offended, but everyone else should be, an imaginary place where children are exposed to hate speech, but will never use it.
For some reason, they think taking hate speech out of the public airways, where children can be exposed to it at young ages is somehow unconstitutional.
You want to sling hate speech, and non-PC grammar? take it to HBO!

I only hate the legal political correctness.

If someone CHOOSES to freely censor themselves out of respect for others, that is their business. But censoring my free speech is anti-American.

I put up with opposing viewpoints and offensive content. I switch the channel, turn off the radio, or find new people to talk to. I dont censor anyone.

I may call them an idiot and protest against them, but I won't make laws to censor them.

Personally, I think everything Chris Rock says, for example, is politically incorrect and COULD be offensive to white people. But I have never called for censorship of him. If I didn't like him, or his racist jokes, I'd turn it off.

But actually, I find it very amusing. Chris Rock's jokes may be racial, but I am not offended because it is intended to be humor. The KKK on the other hand, I'd stand with you and protest.

Most people do not like being controled. PC is social engineering & is at the fore front of the anti smoking, anti free speech & in fact at the head of all the "anti" issues. It's communalism in disquise. Once recognized it's easy to discard as a shenanigan.

"Political correctness" extends far beyond issues of speech about race. It has developed into a mindset that condemns people for anything they say that someone can interpret as offensive, with complete disregard for the reasonable considerations of intent and context. It has become a form of thought-policing.

Because it interferes with free speech.

It's obvious by your own remarks that you quite "enjoy" speaking your peace and insulting people. So you don't seem to have a problem with it.
