Is a rg6 cable better then the older version of a coaxial cable? I understand there's a older version then the rg6.

Simply put.....rg6 has more shielding and insulation ..It allows for a better signal transfer....SO ITS LIKE GOING OUT IN A SNOW STORM WITH A WIND BREAKER ON.(RG59).. YOU LOSE HEAT & ALL...BUT IF YOU GO OUT IN A GOOSE DOWN JACKET YOU RETAIN HEAT AND ALL (RG56)....Good luck

RG-6 has more bandwidth than the older RG-59. They are both "regular (75 ohm) coaxial cables", though. If (like me) you have a house prewired with RG-59, using RG-6 from your cable outlets to your TVs won't buy you anything.

RG-6 characteristic impedance is balanced to 75 ohms for a wider bandwidth of digital electronics signals and frequencies

Rg 59 is the older one used. and yes rg -6 is better in that it can carry a high bandwidth signal.

RJ6 is a type of coaxial cable with a specific gauge of wiring. Its the most common.
