You try so hard because you care about making the world a nice place to be (thank you!).
You try so hard because you are setting an example for how everyone should treat others (thank you!).
You try so hard because you know what being a good person means (thank you!)
And, you try so hard because you don't want to lower yourself down to the behavior of those rude people that make the world less of a nice--and fun--place to be.
Thanks again!

Let that teach you a lesson about others in the future. You will never get the money back, and, in the case of this rude person, she probably did you a BIG favor by not returning the money to you. Just be the polite person you are, but, remember, there are a lot of rude and crude people out there to take advantage of a sweet hearted gal! Take care, don't change, and be cautious in the future. Don't let people walk all over you just because you are kind, and I have a feeling you won't allow this to happen in the future. Thank you GOD that their are still people out in this world like you. We need so MANY MORE OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU!

True story. I get on an elevator in court. A woman and her husband get on and the woman gets on her cellphone and starts talking like she is in her kitchen. I start to sing "Michael row your boat a shore", and two people join me and then so does her husband. The wife looks at him and says "I can't hear." He shrugs and says, wait until we are out of here."
I stopped going to movies (except the midnight openings) because people answer their phones, talk like it is their living room. It is a very rude, sad world we live in.
I believe in fundamental fairness. If I am at the meat counter and someone is ahead of me, but the cutter comes to me first, I will send them to that person. I demand the same in return. One time in L.A. I was in the ten items or less line at Ralphs. There were about 9 of us in line. A woman with three items (I had four) went to where the belt starts and asked the man there if he would mind if she went ahead. He hesitated, and said, "Does anyone mind?" I said, "Not if you take her place back here." He looked at the lady and said, "Sorry."
Try this, ask this girl if she has five bucks you can borrow. If she does, I bet she will ask for it back and you can say, "even."

Consider yourself one of the few who set themselves to higher standards in life. Keep on being polite and well mannered and in the end it will all pay off. The girl who took the $5 and had no intention of paying it off will get hers back too!!! Karma is a b****!!!

Being Polite and Good mannered is one thing. Being a sucker and letting people walk all over you is something else. Confront the little hussey that you gave the money to and tell her she has until a certain day to pay it back. And don't lower your standards to the people around you make them raise their standards to your level.

I am also very polite, well-mannered, even if the others around me are not. My Dad says it's better to a rose standing proud even when there are swine all about you.

lending deadbeats money isn't good manners - it's being a pushover.
but good manners are what marks a lady or person of quality. don't be ghetto just because everyone around you is going there...

Well, she's just uncouth! How do you want to be known, as someone like this girl or as someone who has the class to say, "Sorry I stepped on your foot." or "Here's the five dollars you lent me, thanks again."
Where do you get into a concert for $5.00?

You can only be boss of yourself and can't control what other ppl do. you have to do what you know is right. I make sure my kids have great manners. And as young as they are, they will comment on other ppl manners.
