Or it was, don't know if it still applies.
1st world was the west
2nd the communist block
3rd, developing countries.
or something along those lines

Mexico, Argentina, other countries who have modern technologies in the cities, but the majority of people live in the rural areas much as they lived centuries ago.

Russia,China...mostly communist or formerly communist countries would be considered 2nd world.
