You have your facts wrong and sound stupid.

To answer: US military recruitment in the US is not down. Every branch besides the Air National Guard has met their recruitment quotas (which is a lot better than in 2001). Re-enlistments in the US military have increased since the wars in Afgahnistan and Iraq. Not all Iraqi people want the US out right now (the Kurds for example) - which is besides the point anyway considering the US wants out as well. There are less rapes and violent crimes (as a cross-section) committed by service members than non-service members (like the person who asked the question). US forces aren't currently fighting 'Iraqi Freedom Fighters' they are mainly fighting foreign mujahadin. The US is spending more on rebuilding an infrastructure ruined by years of ineffective UN sanctions than Saddam or anyone else in the western world could, is, or will do. I can't speak for the Brits, but the US military is completely voluntary and most parents of service members support their children in doing what they decided to do and appreciate the sacrifice they are making. I have no clue what a mechanical failure on a helicopter has to do with anything - it happens on civilian helicopters as well. The low amount of friendly fire incidents in this conflict have been an improvement over past conflicts. White phospherous is not a 'chemical weapon.' It is an incendiary weapon allowed by the Geneva Convention and is mainly used for producing smoke.

I did enlist in the Army and did serve there as a 96B working in counter-terrorism. I have seen things first-hand. And no, I don't think you are making things up - even worse, I think you are blindly regurgitating things you've read on the internet that support the political views of your party. I do not blindly follow any politcal party or president so there is no 'wake up' for me to do in that regard - I am a registered Independent but vote for whoever is the least idiotic.

So why don't you follow your own advice? It opened my eyes and might work for you as well.

"Fiasco: The American Military Adventure in Iraq" is critical of the higher levels of planning that went on leading up to the war and beyond - which there is room for. Most of the material for the book came from military officers. But there is nothing in that book that is blatantly disrespectful of the US military. In fact, the author of the book (even though he is a reporter for the Washington Post) thinks that Iraq is still 'winnable.' I've read the book and don't see the connection to your statements.

I haven't read the other book but will probably get around to it eventually.

The question asked was not thought-out, full of blanket statements and name calling. If you want to debate something, then debate - don't post random crap based on your political views and not reality.

Maybe it is not the Americans that are the Keystone Kops, but the Iraqis. It just seems they just stand around selling shies kabob while their cities are being destroyed by their fellow Muslims. I wonder how many Iraqis killed by their own people than by Americans.

Why do I get the feeling your information and concerns are coming from the media and not combat experience?

War is a complex environment. It is hard to fight a war and rebuild an infrastructure of a country. During previous wars we concentrated on destroying the enemy and worried about rebuilding to the war was won. Since I have no solutions to the current problem and have not been to Iraq I cannot make judgments on what is really happening over there. But I do get upset when I see military troops painting buildings while the Iraqis stand around watching them paint. How much intelligence or courage does it take to paint a building,.

I think you should go over there and tell the military how to do things and get everything straightened out.

Have you never heard a plane crash before? Mechanical problems do occur, especially in a desert environment. Fracticide is a part of modern warfare, so bombs do kill friendly troops. Insurgent warfare is not easy, ask the British about Malaysia and Kenya.

I don't think too many enemies think of the American military as a joke. Generally people don't mock those who just kicked their butts.

Your calling them stupid and you got the wrong country Eisenhower...

The Blue on Blue was in Afghanistan, not Iraq.

There was One incident of Rape, and the perpetrators are facing Life/Death Penalty for it.(and Rightly so)

Recruitment is down less than 3,000 persons for 2 months, after exceeding quotas for over 12 months.

Your not the sharpest tool in the shed, are you?

To answer your question - as to the keystone cops -

It is simply because there was no script for the film ...

Only a plot - to capture all the weapons of mass destruction - and then we found out that there was/is no weapons of mass destruction ... what would you expect from there when the producer is wackier than the keystone cops all put together???

hope that answers the question you asked.

Peace;

You should really stop professing to be the deliverer of the truth when you are totally clueless on the subject. If you are a good example of the Democrats you elect, then they are totally unfit to command.

God, you really come across as a total idiot.

Yeah, it has all been a bit of a pigs ear.

If you check out some of the US debate going on about this you'll discover that there are still an alarming number who believe nothing is wrong and the solution is to simply 'nuke 'em.'

Which facts has he got wrong then A.P? No, seriously, do tell, there are UK and US parents seriously grieving out there, if it's all a figment of the imagination, they should be told.

Oh for goodness sake Sean - don't make such idiotic corrections. WTF does it matter which country UK troops died in, they were killed by Americans.

What hope is there if there are so many of you who have still got your heads in the sand. Ok, enjoy the war, enjoy your dead hero's. In God you trust ? Yeah right.

Wichitoar1(or however you spell it) America is 'kicking butt' is she ?
