I'm not talking about your common street criminals here.

What if guys like Hitler, Po-Pot, Sadam, Stalin, and ect. sudenly vanishes in the midle of their bloody campaign? Would it prevent atrocities from further escalating?

The truth is: they all had replacements ready to go.

Hitler had Himmler, Bormann, and Goering.
Pol Pot had Yeng Sari.
Stalin had Molotov, Malenkov, and Beria.
Saddam had Al Duri.

Who knows which one is better?
For example, Stalin removed one evil-doer, Leiba Trotsky, but himself was no better.

And think about Hitler assassination attempt. Was Oberst Stauffenberg just a hitman hired by Bormann or Himmler?

There are some interesting theories about this sort of thing. What it boils down to is "do you choose the devil you know, or take the risk of creating a meaner devil".

Assassinations create martyrs. And if you don't know what having a martyr does to further a bloody cause into a mass hysteria bloodbath, keep reading your history books.

No. Many of those people did not personally go the killing. They had a bunch of psychos who worked with them. Either you'd have to eliminate the boss earlier or kill a whole lot more people.
