Why are people so eager to follow? Are they so empty inside, lost, and just looking for some kind of direction in life?

Wiccan Rider, I was not trying to make a connection with manson or jones, or any cults, my main point is people looking for a direction in life.
Dianetics and Scientology may be the same, I don't know, excuse me if I was mistaken on that.

There isn't anything more wrong with faith any more than there is something wrong with thinking. Both need to be kept "healthy". If people invented the word God it's because there was something inside us that sent us looking. Just like we have a need for food ... human kind has a need for something bigger than theme selves. We have a hunger for faith ... and it's easy for those who aren't thinking healthy to take advantage of this. They know the truly hungry can get full on just about anything.

Charles Manson was not religious and did not preach any spiritual concepts. he was just a charismatic person that came along during a time of teenage rebellion and the hippie free love movement. He gained control by making his family engage with sex and drugs with him. It is a fact that sex and drugs can control people and Manson knew how to use both to his advantage.
Jim Jones was a preacher that lead his followers to suicide, but I fail to see any connection to these two men and Scientology. This religion is not for me, but it is just as valid as Baptist or Methodist or any Christian religion.
All religions until they cross the line that Jim Jones did must be treated the same as all other religions. Even cults teach to live a good life and help people
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Dianetics and Scientology the same thing?

Yes, I believe they are all 'cults'. But then, I believe the largest cult on the planet is Catholicism. The Pope is the leader of it. I know, that sounds so completely 'out there' and I'm a very reasonable person. I'm just a simple Christian, but when I look at the set up of the Catholic church and the membership, and the rituals, with the robes, and the incense, etc., and the whole pecking order -- well, it all adds up to 'cult' as far as I'm concerned. It's only accepted because it was established so many generations ago and managed to permeate every country in the world. It doesn't make it any less of a cult to me. People are eager to follow because they long for something to cling to that will tell them how to conduct their lives, will give them a feeling of belonging, and they would be totally lost if left to their own devices. The only cure is to recognize that you don't need any monkey in the middle in this life -- you can have a wonderful and personal relationship with the Lord by just talking to him and surrendering your life to him. His only rules are very simple and they boil down to the Golden Rule -- the "no frills" way to live a wonderful life!

Why are so many folks eager to follow? Simple: these cults claim to have the answer. They claim to have the truth and the missing piece of the puzzle of life. And they also make people think that the results will be instant. And for many, they offer a connectedness, however artificial, that many lonely people with low self esteem lack in thier lives.

I'm not eager to follow any religion. I just believe in God. There is only 1 GOD and without him we are all lost. Who do people call on in there time of need when we have no one else... God.
I have personaly seen someone be healed. Two weeks ago a 15 year old girl with a brain tumor was healed. I don't go to those huge churches you see on TV, we have about 35 members in our church. This was not something put on the news or in the newspaper.
I'm not judging you so don't judge me.
Just know God loves you and when you hit bottom just call his name he'll be there. God Bless You =)

I am a Scientologist and use Dianetics because it works. I apply the techniques and technology to my life and I get the expected result.
Here is some Scientology news:

Satan doesn't know who's going to be The Antichrist so he tries grooming as many as he can find. The Word says that there would be many antichrists but only one will establish the peace covenant and rule for the last 7 years of history, the one the muslims call the 12th imam.

Yes! They are!
you forgot to add christianity and all the other world religions to the list. just because a religion has global "appeal" or a massive following that does not make it any less of a cult..... that actually makes it MORE of a cult.

They open themselves up to demonic influence because these cults are false prophets and false religions established by the darkness of this world with Satanic influence.
You will see it more clearly in the close future.

At times I think we are all lost, empty inside, looking for a new direction in life.
Have you ever felt that way? I have.
They got fooled by evil men using religion for their own purposes.
Peace be with you!
