Been dating or seeing this guy for a little more than a month. He seems into me but the other night said he didn't want me to stay the night bcause he wants to take things slow. He says in all his other relationships he's always JUMPED right in and been hurt. He calls when he says he will, he cooks me dinner, he holds my hand when we cuddle and always kisses me passionately. Are men really afraid of getting hurt or is this some excuse for being commitment-phobic. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. Please share your thoughts.

Yes! Most women can't understand it, but it's an obvious thing: Guys have feelings too! Many of us have a sensitive side... That's how we become romantic. We get hurt and cry just like all you women do... Nobody likes to be hurt.

Absolutely. Having an elephant trunk doesn't exclude you from fear of failure and rejection in love. And frankly, if a man is just commitment-phobic, I doubt that is any reason to pass up on sex?

Sadly, my last serious relationship from two years ago ended because of his fears.

some men are. but often that's an excuse to get sex, etc. without a relationship. "well, i can't have a relationship with you because i'm afraid of getting hurt." when the truth is that he just doesn't *want* a relationship and that this is an easy excuse not to have one.

some guys are very afraid of getting hurt in a relationship. they will take things slow so they dont give part of themself away and then get hurt in the end.
