Hmmm I dunno the basis for this question but lemme do my best:
I have friends who are gay, and they tend to have a great fashion sense, tons of friends and a decent life. However, it's not so great because they face a lot of discrimination wherever they go.
What's so great about being gay? Well, what's so great about being straight? It's just a way of life, and for many people, it's just one aspect of it. No one choses to be gay, and I'm sure many who are gay would prefer to be straight so they could live life without people beating down on them for their sexuality.

Who said it was so great? I think it's like any other group that has been crititcized, maybe gay people go a little too far the other direction in terms of standing up and saying "I am just as good as you". This is understandable.

The constant ridicule from straight people.
The constant feeling of "wrongness."
People repeatedly telling you that you can "convert" and that they did it.
Feeling like you're an embarrassment to your family and friends.
Being depressed 24/7 because you hate that you're different.
Being called a d*ke or f*g every day online or in public.
Being sexually harrassed by the opposite sex because they think they can "turn" you.
Yeah, being gay is fantastic.

you think it's great? i mean i don't think it's bad, i just see it as a pretty neutral part of my life. i never feel like " oh i love being gay" nor am i upset by it. i don't understand your question. that's like asking what's so great about the sky being blue. nothing, it just is, it isn't a matter of is it great or not.
