Have your tried renting a pool vac? Try some of the rental places and see if they have them; Also places that sell pools may rent them too.
A shop vac may do the job if you want to spend $30.00 to buy one.

What kind of filter system does it have? Diatematious earth or sand filter ( or cartridge) - If its a sand filter - my bet is the 'fingers' inside the filter are cracked and need replacing. My father maintained our pool for 29 years ( yes 29 years) - the fingers crack over time , the crack lets the sand 'spit' into the pool - it needs to be changed once a year, the pool should be cleaned at least once a week or more, depending on use. Id suggest a solar cover to keep leaves /tree debris out. Wal mart has some inexpensive vacuums on sale now actually for the pools. The filter should be baskwashed every so often to clean the dirt out. One more thing, my folks ran the filter non stop all summer long - its cheeper to keep it running then starting and stopping it.

If you don't mind losing some water you can just put a garden hose into the pool and start to siphon water out. Move the end of the hose where the dirt is and the water draining from the hose will suck the dirt out as well. You can improve the process by cutting the end off of a water bottle and taping it to the end of the hose in the water. If you are worried about disturbing the water and stirring up the dirt on the bottom, then try taping the bottle and hose onto the end of a long pole or stick.

A Slime Bag will clear that fine dirt out of your pool. You probably need the Vacuum/Xtra Polisher Slime Bag or maybe just the Polisher Slime Bag. Your local pool store may carry Slime Bags, but if they don't then you can find them at several online locations. This site http://www.cleanerpools.net/index.html has a good description of them and sells them for $50-$60, but you might also find them cheaper at other sites.
I use one on my EZ-Set 18 foot diameter above ground pool a couple of nights each week. I had a bit of algae formation and killed it with algecide, but the cartridge filter just would trap the fine dead algae particles. It just kept settling to the bottom of the pool. I put the Slime Bag on the outlet where the water goes back into the pool from the pump and stirred up the water before I went to bed at night and after a couple of nights like that it was all cleaned out.
Have fun swimming!

There are chemicals that you pour into your filter that will enable your filter to trap finer particles of pollen and dirt. They are called flocking agents and they are really simple to use. However, it sounds like you have an above ground pool with a cartridge filter and these products are more effective in sand filters. It is hard to get the dirt out of a pool without a vacuum. That shop vac idea sounds like a winner to me. Kudos little mama. Good luck and enjoy the rest of your summer.

let all the pump power work at the bottom drain and brush the pool toward it trying not to stir it. Then rinse the filter and repeat. visit your pool supplier and check the cleaners he has.
