try having naturally sweetened foods namely fruits.

healthy berries (straw, raspberry, blue, and black) are great desserts and good for you.

don't drink fruit juices though, most of them are artificially flavored and have tons of sugar added so that you might as well be drinking a soda.

Avoid soda altogether if you must have some bubbled water stuff like seltzer or perrier (if you don't mind bieng made fun of).

worse than sugar is HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) the artificial sweetener used in almost everything that is much sweeter than sugar and you will not get filled up. And you are around 80% more likely to get diabetes than from normal sugar.

I've actually seen a couple books on the subject and looked into it with a friend of mine that was addicted to sugar.

The basic steps (by memory) are to start eating breakfast, eat a protein for breakfast, keep a food and mood journal, reduce your white flour intake.... then another one or two steps, then reduce your sugar...... it's been a while since I've read over the steps, so that's all I can remember for sure.

I also remember distinctly that you should master each step before advancing to the next one, and the system basically worked so that you will decrease your desire for sugar (using the ideas that more protein in the morning to fill you up longer and white flour gives you cravings for sugar). I remember that the food/mood journal was important because it would help someone to learn how their body reacts to different types of foods.

I believe it was called the "Sugar Addicts total recovery program"..... Yeah, I just found it on Amazon.com, but I also found it cheaper on eBay.

Your body needs sugar to work properly, you just need to be sure to take in the right sugars.

So I would start by replacing unhealthy sugars with healthy sugars. Instead of cookies and such, why not eat a plum or a peach? Both are sweet and will make your sweet tooth happy.

Also, I would try out this product.

Tastes just like sugar and you can use it the same way you woudl sugar, whether in baking or mixing in your coffee.

Well i guess you should slowly but surly cut down on your sugar intake. Don't cut out your sugar all together just slowly cut out your sugar.Like instead of ice cream have a piece of fruit. It has sugar in it but not as much. And it is also better for you. Also make sure that when you eat desert or sugar it is proportioned right and remember to SLOWLY cut down on your sugar.
I hope this helped you =)

Have some lean protein with your every meal. It will decrease your sugar cravings. Have a piece of fruit whenever you crave sugar. Humans were fruit eaters so naturally we crave sugars to provide us with the nutrients in fruits. So instead of a chocolate bar, have some grapes or a banana.

just so you know, the cells of your body use glucose for fuel (usually called blood sugar)

every cell can absorb it from the bloodstream and make use of it for its energy needs, so in a sense every cell in your body craves sugar

now that doesn't mean that you have to EAT straight sugar, but your digestive system is designed to turn all other carbhydrate food sources into glucose so the molecules can be absorbed and transported around the body

your brain itself uses up about 20% of the glucose energy that you have eaten

I know that is not what your question meant, but just thought I would throw it in for some perspective on why sugar is so appealing in our diet.

I can't drink my tea with sugar anymore..

Not easily. But try taking vitamin C. I have an aunt who's diabetic, and she learned that people who crave sweets are often actually lacking in certain vitamins that are- or used to be- in sweet foods.
