I bought 1 male and 3 female black mollies from my local fish store in hope of breeding them. I told that to the owners of the shop and they gave me 2 babies to get me started. I also got a breeding net. The questions that i want to ask are

1-If my fry are roughly 1 cm long, how old are they

2-how many fry can 1 molly have(2 of the 3 seem to be pregnant)

3-Is it the right thing to put the fry in a breeding net/box (when i didn't have a breeding net and my fish had babies, they all got eaten)

If you could answer this it would be a big help.

Thanks!

1- Hard to answer, fish grow differently depending on there tank size. They would most likely be around 2 weeks old.
2- Average is around 10-20 for small ones, up to 200 in very rare cases.
3- You should always keep the fry seperate from other fish until they have out grown the mouth size of the smallest fish in the tank.

1- I would say that they are anywhere from 1-3 weeks old, depending on how much space they had to swim around

2- they can have anywhere between 5 (very young mollie) - 40 babies at each batch, up to 6 months without a male since they can store the sperm for that long

3- personally I hate these breeders, because they only stress the females out, and every time I kept them in the breeder my females usually died after birth

4- My recommendation is getting a lot of live plants, that way your fry can hide from all the other fish, and they also grow much faster and are healthier in the long run
I had just found about 10 babies last week which were about a week old, and I haven't noticed them because they were hiding out in the plants, and they are all healthy and happy

Hope that helps
Good luck

If the ailment is Ich, then you particularly could medicate today and many times until that's long previous, and then medicate some extra simply by fact that's not long previous until somewhat once you do not see from now on on the fish. conventional water alterations a week will help shop the water from turning out to be overmedicated or polluted from fish waste. as a techniques simply by fact the fry pass, mollies will produce toddlers approximately each and each month, so stop nerve-racking approximately them and attach the tank. in the event that they stay great, in the event that they don't that's no great loss. Sorry. The addition of salt is a good theory, yet won't get rid of the an infection as effectively simply by fact the Rid Ich drugs. If that's yet another ailment you will have worse issues that is with regards to undesirable water high quality. Like maximum individuals you in all probability overfeed, so stop it.

1. the babys are probly less then a week old.
2. i molly will have like 100 fry every time she gives birth, wich is like once ever several months or so.
3. a breeding box will keep them from beeing eaten but many people just let nature take over so they dont end up with 7,000 fish, the babbies never all get eaten.
hope that helps, have fun
