Same reason that Christians don't believe that Zeus, Odin, Horus, Chrishna, Mithra, or any of the other thousands of gods exist.

The reason why others like myself do not believe that god exists is because Freedom of Religion allows me to worship or not worship god and or religion for starters.
Also there is no proof that he exists.

god is the expression of love and that does exist in our hearts and minds and actions when we are aware of this existance in our daily living it can only spread more and more until each is an expression of this divine existance

Because god doesn't exist, that's why.
After all, such a being, if it did exist, would leave evidence of it's passing. And there is no such evidence.
Unless you call myths and fables in a book of bronze age jewish mythology, "proof". But no one in their right mind does...

I personally don't think that gods are real. Believing in gods makes abotu as much sense as believing in the tooth fairy or Santa to me.

People who don't believe that God exists have rejected God because God would be an authority over them.
To believe means to "hold as true". Christians "hold that God exists" because we want to find God and in order to seek God, you have to hold that He exists. Nonbelievers simply don't want God in their lives.
