His views are not Republican; he is an isolationist that believes we're responsible for 9/11 because we have bases in Saudi Arabia (where we were invited to have bases). That is not a Republican view its a libertarian one - so why is he running as a Republican?

Because the Libertarians are smart enough not to want him.... Libertarians oppose spam.

Also, Ron Paul has consisted voted to allow Congress to regulate medical procedures, and to restrict the right of individuals to make personal decisions -- both of these are directly opposite of the Libertarian agenda.

He also supports a Constitutional Amendment for school prayer, and supports govt regulation of international trade -- again directly the opposite of the Libertarian position.

He also supports federal subsidies for oil companies, and opposes protecting the environment -- which won't score him any points with most Libertarians either.

Paul has stated that he runs as a Republican because our electoral system makes it so much difficult for third-party and independent candidates to get elected that it is the only practical way to have a chance.

(Incidentally, his analysis of the causes of 9/11, which you misrepresent, is the same as every serious analysis.)

Why should he, he calls himself a 'Constitutionalist' and can you imagine some of the other Reps in Govt calling themselves 'Constitutionalists'?

I can't see certain special interests even letting him get close to the top bracket. Why was he cut out of debates early on when no one else was? He's good that's why.

I think the answer is simple, he probably will run as a third party eventually but for now he needs to stay in the spotlight as much as possible, and he can't get on TV or in debates if he is known as a Libertarian, he needs to keep the (R) tag to get as much media, money, and people for now, and he will change over later, just like Liberman (burn in hell you traitor..)

haha, because the only way to win in the United States is if you have a little (D) or (R) next to your name.

Unless you're like Michael Bloomberg, and have a ton of $$$$...

Ron Paul is conservative like Republicans used to be before the neocons took over.

And he's liberal like Democrats used to be before the word "liberal" morphed into a meaning closer to "Stalinist".

We won't be able to defeat "terrorism" until we defeat the fed.

First things first.

Because he has run as a R before and held office as one.
