There are many ways for any person to become a citizen. First off, anyone can file an app through a U.S. Embassy. Many countries have an agreement with the U.S. whereby they can enter a "lottery" and if they luck out sooner or later, they get a crack at the American Dream. Entrepreneurs and investors with alot of cash (I believe somewhere around half a million dollars) can file a different kind of app and come in on the fast track. Marrying a US citizen or perm res and then filing is one of the most common and simple ways of going about it. Being the dependent of a citizen or perm res is of course another way. This list is by no means exhaustive, but given the vagueness of the question and my lack of a law degree, that is my understanding of the issue. Good luck finding a better answer than this.

They have to go through the same procedures as all the other immigrants. The only thing different for them is it is 100% more difficult for them to obtain citizenship without having to wait a very long time.

Well besides those of us that were born here. There are legal and legitimate ways to come into the US. Student or tourist visas are a way to come here temporarily. You can apply for permanent residence as long as you have no criminal record. And you can apply for citizenship as long as you meet certain requirements like stable income & you pass a background check and citizenship test which is like basic US history.

Apply for a green card through the US Embassy in Mexico. Wait the 5 years as a resident alien. Then apply for citizenship and pass the tests.

We have more legal immigrants from Mexico than from any other country in the world, so there must be a way.

Go to uscis.gov for the options.

Why do you want to be legal? Illegals get treated better then the citizens that were born here.

Well, they can just wait a while... or they can go through the naturalization process just like any other potential citizen.
