"The_only_soloro" had it right; however do not pay attention to "Nicole" 's advice; this is a common misconception. Breathe naturally, not in a forced, preconcocted fashion, which generally means breathing in & out both through your mouth and nose simultaneously. (Hint: Keep your mouth slightly opened to accomdate this).
Additionally if you are running theyre are several breathing patterns you can use (in addition to using the natural breathing technique); the most common is known as a 2-2 breathing pattern. It means that you breathe in once for every two strides, and out for the next two strides. So it would look something like this:
Left foot: Begin to breathe in
Right foot: Continue to breathe in
Left foot 2: Begin to breathe out
Right foot 2: continue to breathe out
etc.,
Another useful pattern for you to use if this feels to fast, would be a 3-3 pattern. This would involve breathing in for three footstrikes, and out for three. There is also a 1-1 breathing pattern among others, but you will only need to use this at the end of a Middle-Distance race. Enjoy!

its not that complicated. breathe out when doing the effort part of your lift or exercise. for example, if doing a situp, breathe out on the way up, then inhale on the way back down. when running, you can breathe in through the nose, out the mouth, or you can forget all that nonsense and do what i do, i try to set a nice rythym to my breathing when i run, that keeps me from hyperventilating and helps to prevent them annoying cramps in my side from running. dont think so much about it and just let it happen.

breathe in on exertion, breathe out when relaxing. for instance in sit ups, you breathe in when you sit up, breathe out when you lay back.
