I forgot and left some chopped beef out on the kitchen counter for about 10 hours. It was thawed out for that long. Is it still good to cook or should I throw it away? I put it in the freezer when I got up in the morning.

First, you cant thaw and refreeze meat unless you thaw it, cook it, and then freeze it. Also, ground meat is the most perishable, and you're directed even to only thaw it in the fridge so it doesn't go off. It's only okay to thaw it out of the fridge if you're only partially thawing it for about 30 minutes or so and then immediately cooking. Otherwise, as the outside parts thaw, the inside will be frozen, so by the time the inside is thawed, the outside bits will have been out of the fridge and going off for quite some time.

It would have been fine if you had of just cooked it when you got it after it was thawed, but now that you put it back in the freezer, you should throw it out.

Once meat is thawed you can't re-freeze it and use it later. Well, you could but you'd risk getting sick.

it would have bee ok if you cooked it immediately and then refroze what you didn't use...but now I would throw it out.....it has had too much time for bacteria to start to grow.....
