Bush Set To Veto Bipartisan Plan To Expand Children's Health Insurance.

The vow puts Mr. Bush at odds with the Democratic majority in Congress, with a substantial number of Republican lawmakers and with many governors of both parties, who want to expand the popular program to cover some of the nation's eight million uninsured children.

hmmm it appears that they can. seems they don't mind spending 12 BILLION DOLLARS A WEEK on killing people in foreign lands but object to paying for health care for America's poor children. interesting. my next question would be "how do you people live with yourselves?" but people without conscience are fine with their cavilier attitude towards the suffering of others.
**sigh** i bet many of these fine upstanding "compassionate conservatives" call themselves Christians. i wonder if Jesus smiling at you folk right now.

Holy jumpin' Jesus, I can't believe the responses. I smoke and I'm willing to pay the price for these kids, our kids. What the hell is wrong with people today? Is that all some people can see, their own frigging pocketbooks and talk of socialism? Is that what this country has come to? I am flat out ashamed of some of these answers. We can spend billions killing people in another country while we call it spreading democracy but we refuse to take care of the needy in our own country? This is what people defend when the say they are conservative republicans, watching our own go without? People seem to have no problem with corporate welfare while they complain if we don't give them the money we'll pay higher costs? All you are really supporting is a select group of people pulling millions out of a company while others suffer at their every whim. I have never in my entire life seen one party sink so low. I couldn't be more disgusted in some of my fellow Americans. Now you can show me just how much you don't like my response by violating me, it would fit perfectly into my view of some republicans, especially the ones calling themselves christians.

It's the parents responsibility to provide for their children. Then when those children are old enough they provide for themselves. It's not the governments responsibility to do any this. As it is now if you go to any emergency room anywhere in the USA you have to be treated whether you have insurance or not.
If Hillary gets her claws into the health care business there are two things you can count on happening (1) You will more than likely DIE waiting for a date for surgery to save your life. (2) Our taxes will go sky high. How would you like to make $1000 a week but because of health care taxes in addition to all the other taxes you pay, you bring home $300 a week?

No thanks.

Remember what happened to the LAST government who levied draconian taxes upon its citizens? The Revolutionary War.

Children are the most protected group in America. No child is denied health care and every child qualifies for medical care. Why does the windblowing congress need to "expand" this? Because it's a step towards "universal" health care? Everyone with half a brain knows that is a bad idea.

Terrorism used to be being supported by means of Iraq and the arena had to have a entrance on terror within the core east and Iraq used to be the lesser or three evils on the time. George Bush has performed not anything however attempt to preserve the arena trustworthy and did a task nobody on this planet used to be ready to do. I thank George Bush.

“This will have the effect of encouraging many to drop private coverage, to go on the government-subsidized program.”

I hope he does Veto it. Not to sound harsh but, the government should not be providing socialized healthcare for ANYONE. We are a democratic republic, not a socialist country. Healthcare is and should remain a privatised industry. I bet I get a lot of thumb downs from people who want to pay 70% taxes so we can give healthcare to EVERYONE and feed all the homeless and give handouts to anyone who wants one.

How do they plan on funding this? By taxing cigarette smokers? Cigarette smokers are taxed to the hilt. Cigarette smokers on average make less or are at the minimum wage. They are the poor.

I know...quit smoking.

Get educated.

Ever see a picture of Jesus with a smile? I'm sure you have thousands.

I don't know. I haven't seen the bill. How much money goes to nancy pelosi's tuna fish projects?

If he veto's it, he will certainly explain why. Try listening to him when he tells you, and not relying on jon stewart to tell you.

I actually agree with some below,, show me some kids who are denied health care, and then I'll let you know how i feel about it. Im not a fan (putting it mildly) of socialized healthcare, but am open to options regarding children for NECESSARY treatments (which they already receive)

Hmmm, again we say no to a socialist plan with no agenda to pay for it. Sooner or later you folks will wake up. And let's ask ourselves how many of the 8 million kids are only here to keep their trash illegal parents in the country.

Kudos to whoever's spearheading this, regardless of what party they belong to! I can't imagine someone not wanting to insure kids.
