I saw a pole that 1/3 of the population does not affiliate themselves with either the Democrats OR the Republicans. There has also been a 18% increase in Libertarian membership since January (I think Neal Boortz told me that)!
I think people are ready for changes. At least, ideally they are - but whether or not they carry through with their discontent at the voting booth is another story.... too many people think their third party vote is worthless. And too many people are scared that if they don't vote for their usual party, then the other guys will win.

i have said for years that we need a strong 3rd party. every election is the same, never anybody that excites you and makes you think there is a light at the end of the tunnel. it is always a job to pick the" lesser of the two evils" most votes today are not really votes for a candidate, they are votes against their running mate. one day we may wise up. hopefully before we go down the tubes.....good question by the way.

Check out Unity08.com
They are trying to get the people to nominate a bi-partisan ticket. The goal is to have a nomination on the ballot in every state.
Some names they are kicking around:
Colin Powell and Michael Bloomberg.

One Party is insanely naïve and the other is pathologically insane. It is not much of a choice, huh?

The current two party system will be dead before I am, I know that.
