It`s not healthy for mice either. Most mice are lactose intolerant and giving them cheese will cause diarrhea.

We no longer give our rats or mice cheese as it is not really good for them (too high in fat, hard to digest) & when we have given them a bit as a treat they weren't really impressed. Our cats are much more interested but they don't get it very often for the same reasons.
This is just a guess, but the association could be because that is what has been traditionally used in traps (possibly because of the strong aroma) & nearly every time I see a cartoon with rats or mice the little guys are interested in cheese. This is true whether they're being portrayed as "good guys" or "bad guys."

its actually not good for them it gives them gas, and your thinking of mice maybe
