I'm sixteen, I have 36 DD breasts and they are still growing; it has gotten to the point where barely any DD bras fit me anymore, and it's starting to become ridiculous. Besides the fact that they are too big for my body type, but they ache constantly, cause me to slouch, and my back hurts more and more every day.

And please, no comments with "don't do it". Especially by men, you don't have to live with them and for anybody to expect me to live like this so I can be eye-candy for other people is not only ridiculous but also is humorous.

I guess what I want to know is, do I really need a breast reduction; when do I know I need one? My mother is always bringing it up, and I'm seriously starting to consider it. Also, how much does it cost? What are the health risks, will I be able to nurse if I ever have a child (long ways off but still)? Anything else I should know?

is a pretty interesting and informative site. My friend had it done and she was ecstatic...no more hurting back/shoulders. Your doctor may not want to do it until you reach majority age but having it done before then will likely require one or both parents' signatures. You are ultimately the one to decide, not your mom or boyfriend, etc. It's your comfort and your body and you are the only one who can be sure if you are happy with it or want a change. You also might want to make sure that you don't need to wait until you have "maxed out" in breast size before you do it. Good luck!

When I was in the Navy, one of my troops showed me a picture of her taken a few years before. She stood 5', and looked like Dolly Parton. She had breast reduction surgery. She was having back pains, shoulder pains. She lifted her shirt and bottom of her bra and you could barely see a light pink scar under her breast. (Yes, we were that close as friends...long story.) She is a beautiful gal and since the surgery, she was a much happier one, too. Talk to a surgeon about a breast reduction. Like Dawn, I think you'll be much happier. One day we had a party at the home of one of my other troops, and I noticed Dawn and a large breasted neighbor in the corner talking. That summer, Tina (the neighbor) was over in her bathing suit and something just didn't look right. She soon said, "I have to take this thing off. My stitches are itching like crazy." Then it dawned on me (pardon the pun) that she, too, had breast reduction. Those little puppies were standing proud. Good luck!

My sympathies are with you. I had to have a breast reduction
about 17 years ago. I do have a niece who also had a reduction at age 16. First off, physically there will be scars, but a small price to pay if it is really causing you problems. I was told I would not be able to breast feed after the reduction but it was not an issue for me. You will probably have alot of scar tissue that will cause you have to be checked periodically. The surgery itself hurts like hell, but you will recover and in the end it was worth it for me. Best of luck to you.

I understand what you are going though, having been there myself. Please talk with your Mother and ask her to take you to a Doctor and get medical advice.

My best friend had a breast reduction done at the age of 22 due to major back and should pain due to being top heavy. It had nothing to do with vanity and everything to do with easing her back pain which was causing a whole range of other problems.

She has never looked back and is now a wonderful 36C. I would think that it would not be wise to have one at your age of 16 as your body is still developing, however I have no medical expertise. I would suggest you talk with someone who specialises in this area. If you do not know of anyone visit your Doctor and ask for a referral to a specialist.

I hope this helps,

God bless,

Sharon

You should begin to research breast reductions and find out what makes you a candidate, which it sounds like you are one, how the procedure is done, the recovery period, and many more details. Breast Reduction is a rather popular form of reconstructive surgery today. There is a slight possibility that you could still breast feed after this procedure, however it is a slight possibility. To learn more about the breast reduction you should begin your search here: http://www.newimage.com/cosmetic-plastic-surgery/breast/reduction-overview.aspx

If you have any back pain, you are a candidate for a reduction.

Get professionally sized at Sears, JCPenney, or Nordstrom (NOT victoria secret, they have NO clue on how to size bigger breasted women, been there done that).

Have your mom and you talk with your doctor, and recommend a plastic surgeon.

You may have to wait a few years, but you can always do your research NOW.

This site is an excellent source of information for you and your mom:

As much as it pains me to say this.....If they hurt yes it is time. If you are in pain and they aren't what you want for yourself then do it. I am a breast man but any man worth a second look would place your health and comfort above his needs.
