I have a Satellite A130/A135 Window's Vista from Toshiba.
When I log in, everything seems fine. I can even click on
programs and get them to open, and I may use Task Manager.

However, just after I log in, a dialog box pops up saying
that Windows Explorer is not working properly and that
it is searching for a solution to a problem. Not three seconds
after, another box pops up saying Explorer is restarting, and
it restarts Windows Explorer as if I had just logged in.

Does anybody know why this is and how I can fix the popup
problem?

it is a brand new laptop that came with windows vista already installed in it.

this problem just started to happen this morning

i used mcafee to scan the computer but it seems to be messed up and i can't get online on my computer (i am currently using a friends) to download AVG or anything else for that matter.

i have tried to reboot in safe mode but it does the same thing no matter what

the laptop didnt come with a recovery disk as strange as that seems

and because the problem is connected to windows it won't allow me to open my control panel

try using your system restore cd that came with your computer or doing a simple system restore to a date that it was working fine in safe mode.

Hi,

Sounds like you either have:

1. a virus

2. spyware

3. some sort of memory or file corruption.

A few diagnostic questions will help us here:

1. Is this a brand new laptop? Did it come with Vista already installed, or did you install it as an upgrade?

2. When was the last time you didn't have this problem? Try to use System Restore to go back to a time when your computer functioned normally.

3. Scan for viruses' and spyware (I recommend AVG--www.grisoft.com and Adware 2007---www.lavasoft.com).

4. Boot into safe mode, and see if everything behaves normally. If it does:

5. Try to uninstall any software or hardware you added recently. See if that solves the problem.

If all else fails, use your recovery disk and reinstall Vista on the Laptop to see if the problem goes away. If not, take it back to the store and try to get a refund.

Hope this is helpful! Please update this post as you make progress.
