Don't "diet"; the very word is associated with deprivation, denial, and starvation. Change your eating habits; eat healthy foods with a daily small "treat" of what you crave. Then you can have your "treat" without the "cheat". "Diets" are limited; healthy eating go on for the rest of your life. Dieting also causes your metabolism to slow, assuring that when you begin eating normally again you will gain weight.

Hey Brea!
Cheating on your diet is normal. We're human and we crave and it's nothing to be ashamed of.
When we completely deny ourselves of something we want, our minds and bodies tend to go into overdrive and aggressively crave that food until we get it. Then not only do we cheat on our diet, but we binge the food. We feel doubly worse, no?
Here's my suggestion: moderation and or reward. I don't deny myself sweets. I love oatmeal raisin cookies and even though I'm watching my weight and working out, I still allow myself to have them on occasion. Knowing that it is okay for me to have them keeps me from craving them.
Now, other sweets such as chocolate chip cookies or brownies are my rewards. If I work out a certain amount during the week, if I have a great workout, if I run 2 miles in X minutes, then I can have just one of those two at the end of the week. Because I don't deny myself the oatmeal raisin cookies (still sweet, but slightly healthier than other cookies), then I don't go overboard and want to stuff my face with the rewards. It works for me. Give it a shot!
Good luck.

We all cheat....don't be disappointed in yourself cause of it. We all need a little reward now and then. So what! Have a LITTLE something. Sometimes I just have to have a candy bar...But I may take less than half and share it or freeze it for another yen. Its not gonna change your diet plans or your weight loss. THAT'S what makes dieting miserable, cause of the wants and can't haves. You recent dieting and give up. So be careful and just have a tiny treat just to satisfy....I KNOW a bite of a snicker does it for me...Their so satisfying. Craving gone....

Don't beat yourself up when you cheat. Realize that this is a new day and today you are going to eat healthy. The more you eat healthy the more your body will crave healthy foods.

Allow yourself one "free meal" or even "free day" per week. Somehow, it works. You don't stress over temptation because you know you can have whatever it is you are craving whenever you want it. Then, when you do have it, you don't have to beat yourself up over it, because it was "allowed" anyway!
Sometimes, telling yourself you can't have something makes you want it even more. Letting yourself know you can have it, but only once this week, let's you prioritize your cravings. If I want a doughnut this morning, I can have it, but then I've used my cheat for the week. If I've used my cheat on a lousy doughnut, then I can't use it for dinner with friends on Friday. It makes it real easy to pass up that "craving". :

i live in a house where my parents buy all this junk food. when i decided i wanted to stop eating junk food, i told them to hide it all or stop buying it. Then i dont find it. I drink slimfasts or carnation instant breakfasts. they help keep me full and keep my cravings low because they're chocolate flavored! i hope this helps :]
