I thikn the best would be a mutt. A mix of your favorite dogs. So if you like some triats of one dog and others of another, than you get it all.I have a boxer-great dane-pit bull (even though I do not like pit bulls) and an Aussie-spaniel. I didn't know he was a pitbull until almost seven years after I got him! Mutts are best gotten from a shelter, for breeders sometimes hurt the dogs or don't treat them right so the mutts come out just right. Shelters are alot cheaper and you would be saving a dogs life! I think some of the worst dogs, are the mean ones. Some Pitbulls, Rotweilers, even a few bulldogs can be mean. I said SOME so Don't completely cross them off the list. Dogs can be different even if they are the same breed. So look at a few shelter dogs and see if one of them steals your heart.

Good Luck!

The FCI registers over 300 different breeds -- and obviously, each one has lots of people who adore it and work very hard to support their breed. So, there's a dog for almost everyone, from little to huge, quiet to bubbling with energy, loves everybody or standoffish even with the owner.

Similarly, people have their preferences. Some people don't want to have to groom a dog, or dislike little yappy dogs, or are afraid of big dogs.

The wonderful thing is that there is more variety in the dog species than in any other species of animal! So, the best dog is the dog that works for you, and the worst dog is the one that you dislike -- or that doesn't fit your needs and lifestyle.

But it's sure fun to read everybody's opinions! And that's what makes this such an interesting topic!

I love them all!

I think it really depends on the owner and what they are willing and not willing to deal with. Personally, I think a Border Collie would be great, but that's because I would want a dog that's easy to train and has enough energy to be a jogging buddy. I don't really like the small pups that yip yap too much, I find it annoying- but some may find it cute.

If you're trying to search for a dog that would best suit you there are all sorts of sites that allow you to rate your preferences and see what breeds best fit them.

And as a side note- I also love mutts, they're adorable and you will be hard put to find many other dogs that look just like them!

The best for me our pound puppies, they are loyal.
Everyone has a favorite, but mutts are the best.

The worst dog, and I have had lots of dogs are cocker spaniels. Sorry, the ones I know are over hyper, attack kids, pooped on my bed. Pooped everywhere inside, bites at everything. I spend tons of money and time training a full breed cocker, and he was a jerk to everyone. I loved him and raised him. Growing up I always had good mutt dogs. I can't imagine why people pay so much just for a certain breed. I learned my lesson. :0) I love all dogs.

I can only answer this from personal experience and I would have to say that the best dogs I've ever owned have been Saint Bernards.

Gentle, loyal and obedient loving and a joy to have around.

The worst I've ever owned is a Doberman, mainly because she was incredibly unpredictible and could'nt be trusted.

If I was looking at dogs from the point of view of worst breeds of dog that would be certain toy breeds because they are yappy and snappy.

First of all, I love Star Gazer's answer! Next, I my favorite breed is Shih Tzus and I don't have a vote for worst. I love all dog breeds. Sometimes an individual dog will be mean or agressive due to the way it has been raised and or treated. I don't think any breed is all bad.

I absolutely Love Labrador Retrievers, I have owned and fostered so many breeds. I loved each dog but I totally fell for Labs. They are just loving devoted, affectionate, intelligent and versatile. I do everything with my Labs. We go swimming, kayaking, hiking, camping, to parties, on long car rides sledding snowmobling, and bascically anything I do they will if for nothing else than to be with me.
Honestly there are no bad breeds only bad owners/breeders. And it all depends on the person who has the dog, if they fit their lifestyle you have a match. I do not like little dogs, I have nothing against them what so ever and have many only had a big dog too.

English Springer Spaniels are the best in my opinion, loving, loyal, playful, fun, beautiful and easy, not so bright all of the time but very enthusiastic.
There are no worse breeds but personally I'm not keen on toy breeds or any small dog.

Best- Shetland Sheepdaog - Smart, beautiful, smaller than Border Collies and Collies, energetic, can live in smaller spaces as long as exercise is dail provided

Worst - It depends on the owner on how a pup turns out in my opinion. So I don't think there is a breed that is the worst.

I don't know about the worst but the best breed of dog is a mutt! Mine have been smart and loving. I think they get all the best parts of their parent breeds.
