It seems like it's happened a thousand times -- girl online tells me I'm cute, seems interested in meeting up, we exchange a couple emails, then.... Disappears. Never returns another email, IM, etc. What's up with that?

i have a friend who was talking to a guy online for a long time and they both wanted to meet up but i told her it wasn't a good idea because it's dangerous with all the weirdo's there are today. i wouldn't take it personally my friend would talk to about 5 people at a time and forget all about them the next day i think some girls just get caught in the moment then forget about who they were talking to.

Of course it is okay. The idea of only meeting someone who is within your city is kind of silly. My first love I met back in 2001 online. It was a regular forum, not a dating site back then and we got to know each other. He moved to be with me after 6 months and one visit. That lasted 5 years and was still to this day the most special relationship I've had. 5 years later I meet my friend's brother once (nye) and we've been in constant contact since. He lives 2 states away and we've been skyping, calling texting and he's coming to visit in a few weeks. If you meet someone you find a connection with, whether it be local or a few states away, it's worth pursuing. I wouldn't chase an idea you have in your head of finding someone online, but if you come across someone in person who happens to live somewhere else and your encounter is brief and you feel something there, then absolutely you should give it a shot.

It can be very intimidating for a girl to meet a guy in real life... not to mention dangerous. Some girls would rather not meet at all, than take the risk.

Some are shy and can't stand the thought of a physical meeting with real words and real eye contact. Some are just online to get attention to feed their egos.

Regardless, it's like any other venue... if you give your number to a dozen girls at the bar, maybe one gives you a call... of the others, some change their mind when they're sober, some never had any intention of calling you and others don't remember that night at all...

Don't get discouraged... just keep contacting the ones you are attracted....

They're smart. You might be an axe murderer or something. Also, online dating is just that "online dating". Most people never meet up but get a kick out of flirting with a stranger.

Get out in the real world and meet women face to face, forget the online dating scene. It's full of lies, cheating, etc.

Have you watched the news recently? People are getting killed by online predators! Someone from my city was tricked by 2 guys and a girl to show up for a "meeting" with the girl... He ended up getting beat up and robbed!

Because.... youre a guy, shes a girl, you met online, whats the risk?!
use your brain, you could be someone youre not if they only know you through IM and email!

Because THEY are losers.

The sooner you realize that and get over it, and realize that yes, it will happen again...and again....but it's no reflection on you, the sooner (and more often) you will get out there, meet more girls, and eventually, find the right one. Good luck.
