Marinate it before you cook it or use meat tenderizer on it or buy better cuts of beef.

Spend the extra money and get a good steak to begin with. There is only so much you can do with a cheaper piece of steak. Marinating it will help alot, but then you lose the flavor of the meat that makes a steak a steak. Buy a ribeye or spencer steak. Make sure when you are ready for cooking, that the steak is almost to about room temperature. It should never be cooked right out of the icebox. It takes the meat to long to get hot in the center. In the meantime it is drying out ur meat. Brushing ur steak with Olive Oil or Butter can help to keep your steak moist during cooking. Also remember to let the juices settle before cutting your steak. Let sit about 2-3 minutes before cutting into. This allows the meat to retain its juice. Cutting it too soon will drain the juice before it can settle back into the steak. Dont ever cook your steak till well either. Stop at about med well, during the time it is sitting for that 2-3 minutes, the meat will cook a little more, getting it probably to the right tempurature that you are loooking for. Cook it slow and don't put any salt on it. I've heard that salt makes the meat tough. Marinating the meat is also good and think it helps it not be so tough. You can use meat tenderizer but I'm not sure I trust it because if it can tenderize meat think what it can do to your organs. I usually just cook my meat slow but we don't like ours well done but the concept is the same. If you cook it too fast then it gets done on the outside but not the inside. Grilling your steaks might make a difference. I have been using either the Italian marinate or Kens raspberry vinergarette dressing to marinate. Ken's makes the meat have a little sweeter taste if you like sweet. Either one is good, Marinate the steaks over night if possible. and the cook them slowly. Unless it's not a real good cut of meat, you should not have any trouble with it being tough. It sorta of takes experience too -

It's really hard to get a really juicy tender steak if you like them well done. That said, as was suggested, you could try a marinade. Here's one that I use on steaks and chicken.

4-5 tbspns soy sauce and 1cup of pineapple juice- and that's it. Let the meat soak for a few hours- not overnight or more than 2 or 3 hours as it will soak up too much salt. When you take the meat out you can sprinkle a little salt and pepper if you like.

Also, DO NOT poke the meat. Try to turn it with out stabbing it with a fork.

Make sure if you are cooking on your grill that you have let the flames die down and your charcoal is glowing red.... Buy ribeyes... better cuts ...... you can sprinkle a small amount of sugar on each side and let them sit in the fridge for about 45 min to an hr)( once you cook them you will not be able to taste the sugar at all.....or you can marinade them in italian dressing..... season before you put on grill ...... just keep an eye out for flare ups from the fat dripping.... I grill my husbands well done and they are not tough....... We live in Texas and raise cattle for our own meat so we have our meat cut fresh and when we butcher we let our meats hang for longer than store bought meats before we cut it into steaks or other cuts .... so that has alot to do with the tenderness of the meat.... but the sugar and italian dressing will work for store bought meats..... hope this helps

That's pretty much an oxy-moron. The more you cook a steak, the tougher it gets.

The only thing to suggest is to use steaks with a lot of fat running through the meat, such as ribeye.

Maybe use a lower heat so the outside isn't like charcoal while the inside is still pink.

Sear a well marbled steak on high heat one minute on each side. That will lock in the juices. Remove it from grill or pan. Bake a one inch steak in the oven at 300 degrees for about 15 minutes.

Drink heavily while cooking. That will guarantee a steak you'll love.

iv never seen such dumb answers about anything ever
if you like your steak well done something is wrong with you
also I'm sure you use a lot of a1 or something cuz you cooked all the taste out of it if you want well done grind it up and put it on a bun i really like the idiot that thinks meat tenderizer might eat your guts out as if your pouring Drano on it Citric acid and the enzimes in kiwi are good to use to tenderize
i hope you don't think orange juice for breakfast will kill you

burgers have to be cooked all the way cuz all the meat has been exposed a steak you just need to cook the outside if your cooking it well because you think your safer than if you eat it rare your wrong if you dont agree with me dont reply or email me because your wrong if you want to correct my spelling or gramer go ahead i dont talk like i type and i also dont care what you think :)

I was just talking to a coworker about this today. She said she puts olive oil in a skillet and pan sears each side of the steak. Then puts in the oven or on the grill. She said it is juicy and tender every time!

My hubby and I just tried the Jack Daniels grill bags you can buy at the store. They have a (non-alcoholic) marinade in them. You throw the steaks in the bag and let them sit for 20 minutes or so. Then grill. The steaks are tender and juicy. :)

Lots of good answers. Marinating is a good solution and also it is true that the more you cook it, the tougher the meat will be. Therefore, keep in mind that meat will still keep cooking after you remove it from the heat, so cook it until it's medium-well and remove it from the heat. Let it sit for about 10 minutes & you should have well-done beef that is a little more tender.

Well dont overcook, remember that the steak still cooks after you take it off the fire...never cut into or eat a steak right after you it comes off the grill, let it sit in a warm place for 20 mins so all the juices can re-distribute.
