Why do Americans think that people in the UK.....?

I know they bathe. We just see that they seem to have worse teeth than Americans. I don't assume they don't brush, I just thought that maybe they don't care as much about orthodontics or cosmetic dentistry as Americans do.

blondes:stupid
brunettes:boring
Americans:fat and stupid
Brits:bad teeth
french:smell

Everyone loves stereotypes when they are making fun of other people but they can't stand it when the joke is making fun of themselves.

example:
there was a brunette sent a question saying loads of blonde jokes.A blonde wrote back saying a lot of brunette jokes i.e why did the brunette keep her figure?because noone else wanted it.The brunette who had asked the question then edited the question saying that the brunette jokes wheren't funny!

sounds really stupid and childish but it happens all the time.

when a blonde posts brunette jokes you can garantee(I don't think thats how you spell that) that there will be a brunette saying that the jokes are mean or that they aren't funny.Only when people post blonde jokes there are hardly ever blondes still saying that the jokes are mean.

blondes are used to being told they are stupid because of the colour of their hair.Only brunettes still take offense because brunette jokes aren't posted very often so they can't take it when people poke fun at brunettes

p.s. not saying that all brunettes are like that but some of them are.

p.p.s I was only using blonde jokes as an example,it really happens with any stereoptype.

p.p.p.s sorry,the way I wrote it made it sound like ALL brunettes are like that.

The not bathing is just a fallacy but the teeth thing comes about from the entertainment iindustry all having their teeth un-naturally whitened and the American public believing this is the natural thing, typical.

Cos our Hillbilly's over here in the UK have all moved outta the woods and into houses, has anyone seen the film Deliverance, there were some messed up teeth in that, do banjos ring any bells ?

I've been wondering the same thing? What caused americans to talk about brits teeth and shower habits?

I mean,....its like talkin about americans and their weight :D

But we actually know that from what we see on TV, documentries and all the fast food place in US.

Well i've never heard an American say that and i live here. Its a damn stereotype get over it. Why is it ok to say that all Americans are fat and lazy?? Most of the people i know aren't fat or lazy and they are American!! I read some of the answers and do you really believe everything that TV says that's one way stereotypes get started!!

It's more that they all pay for braces and teeth whitening and things like that whereas the British are a bit more laid back about it.

as ever with prejudice there is a minute germ of truth in there, even if it is only perception. you just dont see americans with bad teeth - they must spend a fortune. we just have other priorities than an even and white set of pearlys.

because alot of americans seem to have a stereotype over english people just as we have a stereotype of americans that they seem to be stupid, ignorant and fat which niether stereotype is the case
