Probably not.

Think of it like this; now the mortgage has you both on the hook for the mortgage. What's in it for them to divide the note and let each of you be responsible for half when they now have you both (jointly and severally) responsible for the whole note?

You'll need to refinance after you're divorce is final to remove one partner from the mortgage.

You probably cannot refinance while still married and have only one of your on the note; same rationale as above.

Only by contractual agreement between you and your ex-wife. However, the mortgage lender will not do this. Each of you will remain fully responsible to make the entire payment.

Of course, you can refinance, but you will end up in the same situation.....
