Are you looking for compression or support for activity?

An elastic wrap is used for compression after an injury. You want it to be pressure gradiant - in other words, more snug near you toes and less snug around your lower leg. The goal to keep swelling from settling in your foot or toes. Start just above your toes, go around your foot a few times, cover your heel, and then up to your lower leg.

To tape or wrap your ankle for support in athletics, it really is a skilled technique. (Stirrups, horseshoes, figure 8, heel locks, etc. - get the point!) You can probably find pictures under "ankle taping" on the web.

The newer ankle braces give good support that you can apply yourself. Less hassle and in the long run a lot cheaper than taping. Look for the brands McDavid, Swede-O, Donjoy, Active Ankle.

using an ace bandage you want to come from the bottom of the foot up around the ankle and back down the foot in a figure eight position. do this until the end of the bandage. It's hard for me to describe how to do this, but you want to wrap where it looks like the number eight.

Use a Ace bandage, start at center of foot, raping around foot, bringing bandage around ankle, go behind heal and over other ankle, across top of foot and then under foot and around. ankle again, over and over. then pin bandage. Don't rap tight it will cut the blood circulation off
