Best Buy delivered the Sony 52" and Comcast came out with the dvr (HD) box. They used their cable, even though I had bought the good HDMI cable that BB said I would need--anyway worked great until I pushed the "on demand" button to watch a movie. 2 small blue boxes came on screen (otherwise screen was black). Can't remember just what the messages in boxes were, something about try again later or unavailable at this time. Problem is, I cannot get off that screen with the blue boxes. Nothing will take it to another screen. It's like the whole tv froze up. Does anyone have any idea what might have happened. Sure hope it's Comcast fault and not the tv. I've turned it of and everything I can think of and nothing works--always shows the same screen when it is turned back on.

it sounds like the dvr box..not the tv....when you hit the on demand button you get a message that says something like unable to process call comcast meta - 6 ( means return problem) srm 8001 ( forward problem) it could be the box is not in the system for the VOD...when it freezes like that unplug the box for a few minutes and plug it back in should clear out the box and reset it......now for the VOD issue could be a couple of things ..bad spliiter or if you have the main line ( from the wall) goes threw a surge protecter or a vcr..if you have a gold splitter that has to go...

to check the box what you do is hit cable /power/ then ok (power and ok have to be hit back to back fast)it should bring up a screen.go to interactive status there should be an IP address.. State should say running ( it might say wait loc sin or unconfig) box needs to be updated or replaced and upder socket port 00 and 01 should have some numbers..

then check under upstream status requested power level should be close to a 50 give or take....
then hit power /power to return to the tv.. if any of those things are not where they should be then you probley need a service call

The TV is not providing the locked up video....that's coming from the Cable box.....UNPLUG the cable box for 5 minutes so the computer inside Re-initializes.....

TVs can lock up too, and the same procedure applies to them...BUT it's not your TV causing this.....
