Without Conservatives we would be remembering King George instead of George Washington

There's a big differnce between 'conservatives' and the reactionaries that have hijacked the GOP. These folks are not conservatives in the generally accepted sense of the word. To call them conservatives is to do a dis-service to a creditable political and social philosophy. 'Conservatives' may be slow and careful and not prone to making abrupt changes in social direction, and they may be a bit too chummy with 'the right kind of people', but they're nothing at all like Bush administration. Worse, the Bush administration isn't even competent to carry out its own agenda...they flounder, fail and fall....they stumble, lurtch and seem to have a bolt in their neck. I can live with 'conservatives', but this bunch....ugh!

Deffinately not. The country needs a balance otherwise were screwed. Thats why the country's in such bad shape. The democratic congress that we voted in to balance the nations power with the republican white house is crawling on its belly to bush and cheney. The republicans are overbalancing the democrats. What we need is a president that can do what's best for the country instead of his own narrowminded view. That goes for republicans and democrats both.

All types are necessary for a country to benefit. Liberals, conservatives, republicans, democrats, and others all contribute in some way to make a fair mix. The problem is when too much favor is given to one group over the rest. I find it interesting that this site edits the word republican.

No but it would be a lot better if some people weren't one sided hypocrites.

Conservative ideals? Free speech? Freedom of the press etc etc? Nice try. My history books were non biased.

No, then I'd have no one to argue with. Nor would there be anyone voicing a nice, different opinion.
Every now and then, a conservative view point will make me stop and think about my own, and if they're really what I should believe in. It's nice to have that occasional stop-check.

We could use some real conservatives - folks who actually are committed to preserving and conserving that which is quintessentially American - instead of these false conservatives devoted to the political practice of fascism and the cultural practice of greed.

The country would be a better place if liberals and conservatives would quit whining and learn to agree to disagree so the rest of us could get some sleep.

Worse.

New ideas arise out of challenges. You strengthen your own beliefs and root them through opposition. If everyone agreed with each other, no progress would be made. Everything would get stagnant.

Same goes for liberals.
