some of the responses lack such human emotion that it makes me wonder if some are wrapped up so much in the notion of God that they forget that "God " supposly gave us human emotion and they forget to use it.
No respect for her beliefs or her turmoil at that...just on and on about how she should just cave in go to church...or how could she not believe in God.
As John Stossal says "Give me a Break"
So whats the deal here folks lost touch with human emotion?

by blinding her with mindless drivel. This was why when my mom had problems, she couldn't talk to her own mother because her mother would just God this and God that.

I'm sure you have seen the many comments here that attack the Christians just because we choose to believe in God. Unfortunately, (and I am guilty of this as well) Christians forget that we are supposed to turn the other cheek. As a result, we get confrontational whenever someone posts a comment that seems to be an attack. We are taught to be compassionate and treat people with charity (love), but a lot of those comments did seem to lack these traits. Rather than being out of touch with human emotion, we let it overule what God wants us to do.

Hi.
I read her question, and passed becasue no matter your beliefs, I believe a child (sorry. 16 is not yet an adult) who lives at home should be obedient. Not religion. Just a parent.
I understand that she wants freedom of expression, however, while children may have some leeway, few parents are going to give carte blanche over any issue.
Unfortunately, for now, she will just have to tough it out. She has two years to go, if she wants to make it on her own. Less, if she will be 17 this year. In the meanwhile, she will likely just have to make the best of it.
But she should make sure she does nothing to damage her relationship with her mother, and leaves at 18 on good terms.
God bless her, and may he bless you too for caring.

I think your refering to compasion which as humans we all can be more compasionate. Honestly I don't think your step father hates you at all, but it sounds like you are having issues with trying to find your way around the differant religons. It sounds like you want to belive in something, but you have pre conditoned yourself into not wanting to belive in anything this man belives in because he has came in and staked claim in your life. God can be the best listener, maybe before you critisize you should read the bible.... It has always provided me with comfert, wisdom, the bible has kept me strong - God speaks to me threw it, so maybe before you desided to give up beliving in anything you can atempt to read the bible. I also understand that this may not be what you wanted to here, but maybe you and yourstep father can reach commen ground for your mothers sake. If this guy is not causing you any harm and is making your mother happy, he might not be so bad after all! Also if he is praying for you, and is truly a man of God as you said than he is showing his love for you and wanting to save your soul. Maybe he can tell that you are in serch of something that only God can give you and he's trying to help you get there. I am not trying to say just go to church, I am saying look around search for your own truth, God's going to meet you at some point in your jurney and it will be a glorious thing! Maybe you should have a conversation with your mom and dad about everything your feeling, they might surprise you!
Well I hope that this helped , and God bless you!

I went and looked at the answers and from what I could tell most were not from Christians. Yes, most were either sarcastic or thoughtless, but not that many were Christian. I get the impression that many of you only see what you want to see in answers.

Facts are that she wants a change. If she is going to change she will have to decide if she wants to please herself or please her step father.
If she wanted sympathy coming to a bunch of strangers that don't know a lion from a fart is probably not the best idea.
