Extremely hot and dry with a good chance of acid (H2SO4) rain. Crushing atmospheric pressure.
edit:
Oops, didn't see Mars
Cold, dry & very windy. insufficient O2 pressure for breathing.

Well setting foot on Venus would be suicide because of the temperature and acidic atmosphere, a astronaut wouldn't last 2 minutes on the surface of Venus. Mars on the other hand is a little more forgiving of an environment the temperatures of Mars are extreme but no were as bad as Venus, astronauts would have a much easier time on Mars.

The surface temperature on Venus is in excess of 800F, with an atmospheric pressure of 90 earth atmospheres. You really don't want to go there. :-P
Mars on the other hand is better.. At the equator during the Martian summer, the temperature is around 0 degrees celsius, though the atmospheric pressure is only 1/100 that of Earth's. You can survive on the surface of Mars for a little while in a spacesuit, though you probably want to get underground in a hurry to shield yourself from the radiation-- Mars has no magnetosphere to protect you against radiation coming in from space like Earth does.

If you landed on venus, you would burn up. It is so hot on venus.
If you landed on mars, it would be windy and dry.
